Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) Residency Program Application

Thank you for your interest in the AGNP Residency Program at the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center (DCVAMC). This residency is designed for new graduate AGNP and clinical leader for DNP graduates with a commitment to serve the Veteran population. The program prepares new NPs to become confident and competent specialty care providers by providing didactic seminars, Grand Rounds, supervised and independent clinical practice, specialty rotations and leadership training during the 12 month period.

Upon completion of this program, graduates will receive a Residency Completion Certificate from the Residency Program. Our program will admit 4-6 residents a year

I. AGNP Residency Eligibility:

a. US Citizenship
b. Graduates of Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited AGNP nurse practitioner programs
c. Recent graduate within the past 12 months or upcoming graduation by May 30, 2018.
d. Hold a Master’s degree or Doctorate degree with a specialty in Adult Geriatric Nursing
e. Proficient in written and spoken English
f. Completion of one or more of the following; drug screen, background investigation, lab and physical exam, tuberculosis skin testing, Hep B titer (Required later during credentialing/hiring process)

II. Application Requirements:

a.Completed AGNP Residency Application (Must submit by March 1 2018)
b. Interest Statement-See AGNP Residency Application (Must submit by March 1 2018)

c.Curriculum Vitae/Résumé included but not limited-Include with Application (Must submit by March 1 2018)

- Life Experience/Professional membership
d.Official nursing school transcripts (Must submit later during credentialing/hiring process)
e.A copy of APRN License (Must submit later during credentialing/hiring process)
f.Three (3) letters of recommendation (Must submit prior to March 1 2018)
-one (1) letter must come from an academic instructor.
- one (1) letter must come from a preceptor.
- one (1) letters must come from a place of employment/co-worker.

Application Dates:

•  Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until March 1, 2018.

·  In person/phone interviews may be conducted sooner but not later than April 15, 2018.

·  The selection process will be completed and notification letters sent by May 1,2018. The letter will include follow up instructions regarding completion of HR process, appointment with individual supervisors and orientation.

Early submission is highly recommended.
