Adjunct Instructor- Mathematics – Accelerated Math Program

Employment Terms: This job is a part-time, non-benefited, FLSA Exempt/Professional position in Education Division that reports to the Accelerated Mathematics Administrator.

·  Gwinnett Technical College is creating a pool of applicants for adjunct instructors to teach Accelerated Math courses at our Lawrenceville location.

·  Appointments are for immediate and upcoming sessions.

·  Applications are accepted on a continuous basis and qualified applicants will be contacted on an as-needed basis

·  The applicant pool will remain in effect for the academic year FY17

Salary: Flat rate per course.

Minimum Requirements: Must hold a bachelor's degree in Mathematics or hold a bachelor’s degree in math related field (e.g. Economics, Engineering) in addition to K-12 Teaching Certification or significant teaching experience.

Job Description: The instructor is responsible for delivering material from an existing workbook that correlates with the developmental math courses 97 (arithmetic), 98 & 99 (elementary algebra) in an accelerated format. The accelerated math courses are a total of 12 classroom hours with two additional hours for review. The students that enroll in the accelerated math classes are trying to pass the ACCUPLACER mathematics exams as administered by the college’s assessment center.

1.  Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.

·  Student attendance

·  Permission to take placement test

2.  Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.

·  Works within the system in a resourceful manner to accomplish reasonable work goals; shows flexibility in response to process change and adapts to and accommodates new methods and procedures.

3.  Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately.

·  Works when scheduled; begins and ends work as expected; calls in according to policy when arriving late for when or when absent; observes provisions of Fair Labor Standards Act; uses work time appropriately.
