ArticleII

Purpose:

Section1:TheAddictionEducationClubisagroup dedicatedtoraisingawarenessand reducingstigmarelatedtothemanyforms of addictionandaddictionrecovery. Thegroup seeks toprovideasafeandsupportiveenvironmentfor membersof the WSU communitywho havebeenimpactedby anaddiction,another'saddiction and/orareinallphases of recovery.As agroup we arecommittedtohelping peoplegainaccurateeducationaboutthemanyforms of addictionandresources availabletohelp.Theoverarchinggoalistoconnectcommunitymemberswith otherswho arecommittedtowellnessandhealthylivingintheserviceof academic success.

ArticleIII Membership:

Section1:Membershipshallbeopentoallfull-timeandpart-timeundergraduatestudentsof

WestfieldStateUniversitywho havepaidtheirstudentactivitiesfeefor the currentacademicsemester.

Section2:Membersareconsideredtobeactiveiftheyattendandparticipateinfiftypercent

(50%) of clubmeetingsandactivities.

ArticleIV

Officers:

Section1:Theofficersof theclubwillinclude,aPresident,VicePresident,Secretary, Treasurer,andPublicityDirector.

Section2:

A.) ThePresidentof AddictionEducation,willcallandpresideovermeetings.Itwillbe thedutyof thePresidenttodevelopthemeeting’sagendaandensurethatmeetingswill beconductedinanorderlymannerwhileencouragingactiveparticipationof allclub member.TheclubwillutilizeRobert’sRulesof Order tomaintainorderlymanner.The

Presidentwilladministertheclub’sprogramandrepresenttheclubinanofficialcapacity atcampusandcommunityfunctions.

B.) TheVicePresidentof AddictionEducationassists thePresidentinallactivitiesand willassumethedutiesof thePresidentintheir absence.

C.) TheSecretarywilltakeminutesateachmeetingandmaintainclubrecordsincluding, attendance,updatedmemberlists,andclubcorrespondence.TheSecretarywillalsoserve as aHistorianandwillarchiveallcorrespondence,advertisements,photographs,and meetingminutes.

D.) TheTreasurerwillmanageallof theclub’sfinancesinaccordancewithSGA ruleand regulations.TheTreasurerwillcoordinateclubfundraiserandmaintainbudgetinformation. TheTreasurerwillprovidereportsaboutthebudgetduringofficialclubmeetings.

E.)ThePublicityDirectorisinchargeof advertisingAddictionEducationon campusand maintainallsocialmediaoutlets(e.g.,Facebook,Instagram,Twitter).In additionthe PublicityDirectorwillcreateflyersandbrochurestoinformtheWestfieldStateUniversity communityabouttheclub’smission,goals,resources,andtoadvertisetheclubsactivities.

Section3:Any activeclubmemberiseligibletoholdoffice.

Section4:Thetermof officewillbeginon May 1stof thatyearandendApril30thof the followingyear,makingeachofficeaone (1) yearterm.

Advisors:

Section1:Advisors areopentoanyfaculty,staffor librarian.

Section2:Theadvisor(s) shalladvisetheclub,when consulted,inplanning theactivitiesof theclub.

Section3:Theadvisor(s) shallbeappointedby a majority vote of fifty percent plus one (50%+1)of theclub members.

ArticleVI Elections:

Section1:Nominationswillbeacceptedataregularmeetingone (1) weekpriortotheelection.Any activeclubmembercannominateothersor themselvesfor office.The officersshallbeelectedataregularclubmeetingpriortoMay 1stof everyyearby amajorityvote.Notificationof thiselectionshallbegivenaleastonemeetingin advance.

Section2:Votes willbecastby allactivemembersby asecretballot.A predetermined non-voting member, chosen by the club,will tallythevotesfor allofficerpositions

Section3:No electionmaybeheldifthereisnotaquorumof fiftypercent(50%) of theclub membersplusone(1) presentatthemeeting.

Section4:If avoteshouldendinatie,thecurrentPresidentatthetimeof theelectionwill serveas thenon-bias-tiebreaker.If thePresidentispartof theelection,thena non-votingmember(selectedby theofficers)willserveas the

non-bias-tiebreaker.

Section5:Thetermof officewillbeginon May 1st of thatyearandendApril30th of the followingyear,makingeachofficeaone-yearterm.

ArticleVII Meetings:

Section1:Theclubwillmeetno less thanonce(1) permonth. Thenumber andfrequencyof meetingsheldeachacademicyearwillbedeterminedby a

consensus of theclubofficers.Thegoalistoallowfor aflexiblemeeting schedule,whichwould attempttoaccommodatetheschedulesof allmembers.

Section2: Officersmayholdseparatemeetingsapartfromregularmeetingwithor without theadvisor.

Section3:ThePresidentor VicePresidentmaycallaspecialmeeting.

ArticleVIII Vacancies:

Section1:If anofficebecomesvacantaspecialelectionwillbeheldtofillthat position.Such electionswillfollowtheproceduredescribedinArticleVI.

Section2:If theadvisorpositionbecomesvacantanew advisorwillbeappointedby a fifty percent plus one (50%+1) majorityvoteof theclub. The appointment of a new advisor will follow procedure in Article V.

ArticleIX AmendingProcedure:

Section1:Thisconstitutionmaybeamendedby atwo-thirds(2/3)majorityvoteof the votingmembersof theclubandifapprovedby theRulesandRegulations Committeeof theStudentGovernmentAssociation.

ArticleX Removalfromoffice:

Section1:If anofficerisviewed as unsuitableintheirdutiesby otherofficersor of activeclubmembersaspecialmeetingwillbecalled.A recallvotewillbe conductedatthisspecialmeeting,andatwo-thirds(2/3)majorityof the votescastwillberequiredtoremovetheofficerfromtheirposition. Followingasuccessfulvotetoremoveanofficerfromtheirposition,

nominationsfor thevacantofficewillbetakenatthatsamemeeting,with theelectiontobeheldatthefollowingmeeting.Theelectionwill, otherwise,follownormalelectionprocedures.

Section3:If anadvisorisviewed unsuitable in theirdutiesby otherofficersor

of activeclubmembersaspecialmeetingwillbecalled.A recallvotewillbe

conductedatthisspecialmeeting,andatwo-thirds(2/3)majorityof the votescastwillberequiredtoremovetheofficerfromtheirposition. Followingasuccessfulvotetoremoveanadvisorfromtheir position, areplacementwillbeappointedby theOfficerswithfifty percent plus one (50% +1) majorityvoteof the activeclubmembers.

ArticleXI Recognitionof SafetyandWaiverof Liability:

Section1:

A. TheStudentGovernmentAssociation(herein,SGA) andthisClub,AddictionEducation, recognizethattheoverallsafetyandwellbeingof itsClubmembersisapriorityfunction of theClub.

B. ThisClub(namedabove)isonlyauthorizedtoconductitsactivitiesinadesignated Universityapprovedlocationsuch as oneprovidedon campusgrounds or atarecognized locationthatisdesignedor approvedfor thisClub’sspecificactivities.

C. EachClubmember,as amaterialconditionof membership,understands,acceptsand agreesthathis/herparticipationinthisClubisvoluntaryandthathe/shevoluntarily assumes allrisks andliabilitiesassociatedwithhis/herparticipation.EachClubmember, by acceptingmembership,agreestoholdtheSGA harmlessfromandindemnifytheSGA againstanyandallliability,including,butnotlimitedtophysical,financial,emotional

andpropertydamageclaims,whethersustainedor inflicted,inconnectionwithor inany way relatedtotheparticipant’sparticipationintheClub.

D. OnceapprovedtheSGA actsas anadministrativeresourcefor theClubandisnot responsiblefor managingClubactivities.TheClubmustbeunderpropersupervision(by anadvisoror coachor certifiedfacilitymanager)whileperformingClubactivitieswhich mayincludebutarenotlimitedtopractices,meetingsandcompetitions.

E. Any andallinjuries,whetherincurredor inflictedinconnectionwithClubactivity,must bereportedtoWestfieldStateUniversityPublicSafety(413)572-5262 immediatelyper Universityreportingprocedures.TheSGA Parliamentarianor Representativemustalso

benotifiedof such injuryinwritingno laterthantwenty-four(24) hours aftertheinjury occurs.Reportsof injurieswillbekeptby theSGA withintheClub’sfile.

F. Afterareportof such aninjuryhas beenmade,allClubactivitiesmustceasewhilethe causeof theinjuryisdeterminedandanassessmentof thesituationoccurs.Aftersuch determinationandassessmentby theRulesandRegulationscommittee,theclubmay resumeitsactivitiesonlyifauthorizationfromtheSGA Parliamentariantoresumeis issued inwriting.

Section2:

A. Failuretoadheretotheseconditionsmayresultinsanctions,up toandincluding,

revokingtheClub’sactivestatusas determinedby theRulesandRegulationsCommittee.
