AGENDA
February 20, 2007
- Call to Order: Meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m. by George Souderes.
- Roll call by Sign in sheet. It was noted that Sam Saucier treasurer and Carl Champlin board member resigned.
- Approval of the Agenda: Motion was made to approve the agenda by Josh Goldman second by Johnny Rodriguez. All members were in favor of the motion.
- Reading/Approval of Minutes: Secretary Eddie Ray read the minutes from January 16, 2007 meeting. Motion was made to accept the minutes by Johnny Rodriguez second by Kenny France. All members were in favor of the motion.
- Guest/Visitors: John Fleming of the Mississippi Army National Guard and AdamsCounty Sheriff Ronnie Brown were present at the meeting. John Fleming was present to discuss map and compass training. There was a consensus that this type of training is important for all Search and Rescue team members. Sheriff Ronnie Brown stated that he fully supports the Search and Rescue team.
- Treasurer’s Report: Due to the resignation of Sam Saucier the treasury report would be tabled until all outstanding checks have cleared. Motion was made by Johnny Rodriquez second by Kenny France. It was noted that three (3) signatures are needed for the checking account. Carl Champlin, Sam Saucier, and Eddie Ray are currently on the signature card at the bank. No checks would by written until a new board was elected.
- Old Business: Disaster Preparedness Day is Saturday March 3rd. The event will take place at the Natchez Mall. All members are encouraged to attend.
- New Business: Stan Owens reported that Disaster assessment classes are to be held. Classes are to held on March 13th, from 6 till 9 p.m. at the chapter house. Also visit the web site for more information about other classes at Stan Owens suggested that all SAR members take this class. George Souderes reported that an ICS class 300 will take place at the NatchezConvention Center. Dates for the class are February 27-28. Start time is 8:00 a.m. To attend this class you must have taken ICS 100 and 200. To attend this class you must register with Adams CountyEOC to attend this class. Sam Saucier resignation was read by Eddie Ray. Stan Owens offered to look at all the by-laws for the structure of the team. A consensus was reached that we revert to the original by-laws that were adopted when the Search and Rescue team was started. The meeting set for March will be for board elections. Everyone needs to attend. There will be elections for several positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, etc.
- Reports/Concern: Ronnie Brown reported that a man from FranklinCounty is still missing. He requested that team members assist him with a search at RobinsLake in south AdamsCounty. Several members agreed to meet at the Sheriff’s office at 8:00 a.m. Friday 24. Discussion followed that a central location for all of the team’s equipment is needed. Also, Josh Goldman and Johnny Rodriguez were assigned to the boat committee.
- Adjournment: Josh Goldman made a motion to adjourn second by Debbie Owens. All members were in favor. Next meeting will be 20, 2007.
