We started the day by attending the Southwestern CMAA Senior Chapter meeting at Paradise Valley Country Club. At the meeting we met over twenty different managers and attended an two hour educational session about legal issues pertaining to the club industry. After the session John Neil, Assistant Club House Manager gave us students a tour of the facilaties as well as answer any question we had. In the end we had lunch at the club and got to hear some interesting stories from different managers.

When we arrived at Phoenix Country Club, Keith Underwood,General Manager, was kind enough to answer some questions we had as well as tell us a few interesting stories about his life and the club industry. Afterwards, he gave us a tour of the club and posed for a picture with the student members.

Forest Highland Country Club

Presidents Report - Eric Hagerman

First, he made the suggestion of introducing a new committee into the bylaws, Student Involvement Committee, which was voted on and unanimously passed. Second, he suggested that the Student Idea Fair Committee name be renamed to Idea Fair Historian, which was voted on and unanimously passed. Third, he asked that all members complete a questionnaire that will help make the club a little bit better.

Vice President/Treasure Report – Kate Kramer

First, she suggested that an UCC Scholarship for $100 for the members be implemented, which was voted on and passed. Second, she reminded everyone that we are now posting resume's online at our web site and asked people, that have not already posted them, to send their resumes to Kevin Graham immediately. Third, she gave the suggestion that if members are reimbursed for conference, but do not attend, shall return the money to the chapter immediately. Everyone agreed that it was good idea and will be put into place if the action should occur. Fourth, she informed us about problems with receiving the money from ASNAU for $1000, but she assured us it will all be straighted out before the end of the semester.

Secretary Report – Dan Rice

First, on Friday, November 19th, the club will be volunteering at Flagstaff Family Food Service from 3:00pm – 6:00pm. It was said that eight people have already confirmed they will be attending, but if they have not RSVP, then should contact Dan Rice at immediately. Second, if people have any questions about registering online for conference can contact Dan at his e-mail address.

Hospitality Report – Andy Durczynski

Gave the group details about the new community service idea that he is charge of, Toy's for Tot's. He asked for any assistance in making flyers for program as wells as helping to get the toy bin put into pace in the HRM building. Annie Morris, new member, offered her assistance in making the flyers and Aubrey Raymond willassiste in helping with the toy bin. Andy assured us that the programs will be up and running by the middle of next week

Other New Business

A discussion was started about whether or not next years jr. chapter meeting date should be change and it was concluded that not enough members had attended to make a firm decision on the matter. Martha Richardson come up with a new idea for our community service program, volunteering at the local animal shelter. She will will gather more information about the idea and present at the next meeting before a decision is made on whether or not we can implement it into our agenda. Some new information about conference was discussed: ten people are or will be registered by the end of year, three rooms at the Ramada have been booked, with ten people the rooms will cost $96 each, members must book their own airline reservations as well as find transportation from the airport to the hotel, & members should plan on leaving Saturday, February 26th, and returning Wednesday, March 2nd.

Guest Speaker's

Larry Applebee, General Manager of Forest Highlands Country Club, talked about the benefits of CMAA, functions he is in charge of at the club, and information about his past. Chris Hilt, Food & Beverage Director of Forest Highlands Country Club, gave details about their intership program. Larry and Chris also answered any questions that any member had.
