Terms of access – Information for OFFSHORE /OFFSITE Staff Member requesting VU LIBRARY registration

  • Access to the e-resources is made available for VictoriaUniversity educational, teaching and research purposes. Use of electronic resources for any other purposes is not permitted. Use of the resources must also be in accordance with copyright and specific license agreements.

General Guidelines Applicable to electronic services
Use of electronic services including the viewing, printing and downloading of individual articles is permitted for the purposes of private study, teaching and research. This does not include the systematic downloading, copying or printing of significant portions of the licensed content (for example entire issues of individual journals or electronic books).
Undertaking this type of activity constitutes a serious breach of both copyright and licence agreements and may result in legal action or termination of the University's access to this product. Use of this service for commercial gain is strictly prohibited.

SECTION 2:Faculty/School responsible for provision of COURSE:

Procedures for registration

After authorising the application, Heads of Schools (or nominees) should scan and email the registration form to.

  • All fields on the form must be filled in, including an expiry date for the staff member’s employment arrangements with VictoriaUniversity.
  • Once registered, offshore/offsite partner staff will have a PIN allocated for authentication purposes. PINs must not be disclosed to anyone else.

Terms of access – Information for Faculty authorising registration

  • The Library agrees to register and create a library patron ID for individualoffshore/offsite partner staff according to details provided by the relevant Victoria University Faculty or TAFE School.
  • The form should be authorised by the Head of Department/School or their nominee.
  • Completion of this form, authorisation by Faculty/School and subsequent registration provides the staff member with a status of “authorised user” in relation to access to electronic resources licensed by Victoria University Library, where this is permitted by the specific licence agreements. This status operates only in relation to teaching/learning and research activities undertaken for VictoriaUniversity and only for the period that there is an agreed employment arrangement in place.
  • By authorising the creation of a Library patron id for an offshore/offsite staff member not enrolled on the University payroll, the Faculty/TAFE School agrees to indemnify Library against actions arising from any infringements or improper use.
