ACCEPTANCE OF APPOINTMENT BY WOMEN’S BASKETBALL OFFICIAL

This Acceptance given by ______, hereinafter called "Official," to an offer set forth in the following provisions by The National Collegiate Athletic Association (hereinafter called "the NCAA"), 700 West Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204.

WHEREAS, the NCAA sponsors an annual National Collegiate Division I Women’s Basketball Championship (hereinafter called "the Tournament"); and

WHEREAS, OFFICIAL regularly officiates games between women's teams representing NCAA Division I member institutions; and

WHEREAS, OFFICIAL is ready, willing and able to officiate at games for which the OFFICIAL is selected in all rounds of the Tournament and serve as a standby.

NOW THEREFORE, the parties agree as follows:

1. Appointment. Subject to the terms and conditions hereinafter set forth, the NCAA appoints OFFICIAL to officiate at games of the Tournament for which OFFICIAL is selected as hereinafter set forth and serve as a standby official, and OFFICIAL agrees to officiate or standby at all such games. In the event the official refuses assignment as a standby official, that official’s eligibility to officiate in future tournaments may be affected.

2. Relationship. The parties agree that OFFICIAL is an independent contractor and not an employee of the NCAA. OFFICIAL agrees to officiate each game for which OFFICIAL is selected impartially and solely in accordance with the rules of play as the same may be applicable in the official's independent judgment. OFFICIAL shall not be entitled to participate in any plans or benefits established by NCAA for its employees.

3. Compensation. OFFICIAL shall receive Thirteen Hundred Dollars ($1,300) for each first- and second-round game, Fifteen Hundred Dollars ($1,500) for each regional game and Twenty One Hundred Dollars ($2,100) for each Women’s Final Four game. In addition, OFFICIAL shall receive a Seventy-Five Dollar ($75) per diem allowance reimbursement and travel expense, not to exceed coach air fare or fifty cents ($.53) per mile, and not including terminal or other local transportation. The OFFICIAL shall receive $500 for each first- and second-round game and $600 for each regional round and $700 for Final Four for which the OFFICIAL serves as standby.

4. Travel. OFFICIAL is required to make all arrangements through SHORT’S TRAVEL (866/821-8547). All officials that worked the first game of the 1st round games must not depart the site prior to one hour after the completion of the second game.

5. Patches. OFFICIAL shall wear an NCAA patch on the uniform and jacket while officiating in the Tournament. An American flag patch may also be worn in a manner consistent with regular season polices.

6. Reporting to Game Site. OFFICIAL will report to the tournament manager at the game site for each game the official is selected to officiate, not later than 4 p.m., local time, on the day before the OFFICIAL'S first assignment. OFFICIAL will depart from the game site the day following the conclusion of each assignment.

7. No Officiating Commitment on Preceding Day. OFFICIAL agrees to refrain from entering any officiating commitment that would require working as an official on the day before any preliminary-round (i.e., first-round, second-round or regional) game at which OFFICIAL is or may be selected to work hereunder.

8. No Officiating Commitment within Four Days of National Semifinals. That for reasons of safety and health, an OFFICIAL who is selected to work as either a game official or standby official during the national semifinals or championship game agrees to refrain from entering any officiating commitment that would require working as an official within four days of the national semifinals.

9. Prohibition on Gambling. OFFICIAL agrees truthfully and fully to complete and clarify responses to the questionnaire for game officials regarding gambling activities. In addition, OFFICIAL agrees to notify the NCAA immediately if any answer, although correct when given, should be rendered incorrect by events occurring after completion of the questionnaire. OFFICIAL's appointment hereunder is conditioned upon complete, accurate and satisfactory completion, of said questionnaire and the continuing accuracy of OFFICIAL'S answers thereto.

10. Public Comments. OFFICIAL is prohibited from making unprofessional, inappropriate public comments regarding the championship, participating coaches and/or student-athletes prior to, during or following an NCAA championship. In the event OFFICIAL violates the standard, future championship assignments may be jeopardized.

11. Division I Women’s Basketball Championship Information. OFFICIAL represents that he/she has read and is familiar with the official’s policies found on the Division I Women’s Basketball Championship Information website. OFFICIAL agrees to all provisions set forth therein for the selection of OFFICIALS. Said policies are incorporated herein in its entirety by express reference.

12. Conflict of Interest. OFFICIAL agrees during the Tournament to avoid socializing with student-athletes, employees and representatives of the athletics interests of participating institutions.

13. Controlling Law. This Agreement shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Indiana.

14. Copies to Chief Executive Officers. Upon request by the Chief Executive Officer of any active member institution of the NCAA that is directly affected by this Agreement, the NCAA may provide a copy of this Agreement to such person.

15. Default. In the event OFFICIAL fails to perform any of the duties and obligations hereunder, the Agreement may be terminated immediately by the NCAA.

EXECUTED this ______day of March, 2017. Not valid unless an executed copy is hand-carried to an NCAA representative prior to the first-round game to which the OFFICIAL has been assigned.
