Retirees Travel Fund

ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT TRAVEL FUND GRANT

FOR PROFESSIONAL/SCHOLARLY ACTIVITIES

BUDGET $12,500 PER YEAR

NOTE:

1. Please submit completed Application to WURA Office.

2. WURA will forward all Applications to the Office of Research Services – ORS.

3. Applications need not be routed through Department Heads or Deans.

ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT TRAVEL FUND GRANT

RETIREES ONLY

The following regulations will apply:

1.Grants will be made to retired faculty and librarian members.

2.Not more than one grant per person will be awarded in any 12-month period

3.An application must be made on the required form for submission to the WURA Office, Room 202, Assumption Building, University of Windsor, ON N9B 3P4,who will transmit it to the Office of Research Services (ORS).

4. Normally, grants will be made only for presentation of a paper at a conference or, in the case of visual or performing arts, a comparable artistic exhibition or presentation.

5.The relevant considerations for the awarding of such grants are as follows:

a)the title of the paper and/or the nature of the exhibition or presentation and its apparent relevance to scholarship or creative activity;

b)the nature of the conference, presentation or exhibition and its apparent importance;

c)the publication record and record of delivered papers, presentations or exhibitions within the last three years;

d)the need for travel funds;

e) the recommendation of the President, WURA, or delegate.

6.Maximum allowances in Canadian Funds:

Normally, up to $1,000 per grant approved; actual amount will depend on the number of awarded grants and the amount of funding available.

Estimate your expenditures in accordance with the terms of the Collective Agreement between the University and the Faculty Association.

i)Transportation - Request actual fare for train, economy air or mileage at approved rate per kilometre as set out in the Collective Agreement, but not to exceed economy air plus necessary ground transportation. Do not claim accommodation or meals enroute when travelling by automobile. Submission of receipts except for the use of one’s personal automobile is mandatory.

ii)Accommodation - Claim actual single rate charges incurred in a reasonably priced hotel or motel.

iii)Meals - as per Collective Agreement.

iv)Conference registration fees, etc.

7.There will be one competition per year. DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT IN THIS OFFICE IS AS FOLLOWS:

The application will cover travel made or to be made during the calendar year in which the application is submitted.

Under no circumstances will late applications be considered after the due date for the current round. Incomplete applications will be returned.

8.Please complete all sections of the form; if the section does not apply, please indicate “N/A” or “None.”

9.OBTAINING FUNDS - A cheque requisition for reimbursement of up to the approved amount should be made out chargeable to the “Academic Development Travel Fund” and forwarded to Kathy McGorman, Finance Office.

10. A final report with travel expenses and receipts should be submitted to Kathy McGorman, Finance (copy of report only to WURA Office).
