15 January 2014Committee Meeting

Present: John Moore, Ellen Egan, Michael Lucey, Shona Fullerton, Theresa Turco, KiraKruglikova

Absent: ChristerMalmberg, Diane Whitney, Eva Contell, Stephanie Peter Meyers,

The committee discussed the Kanderstegski weekend preparation and determined the following:

  • The committee will print and laminate agendas outlining the weekend events and post them in public areas like the check-in desk and the cafeteria.
  • In an attempt to keep the children safe, we will post temporary signs reminding children to stay out of the river that runs between the old and new buildings.
  • Shona will make further announcements at the 17 January Pack meeting.
  • Scout uniforms will not be required but a scout should pack his uniform neckerchief to wear at dinner.
  • An informational email will be sent out to the Pack.

The committee discussed theJanuary Pack Meeting and determined the following:

  • Dens 6 and 10 will exhibit a recent den activity and Den 1 will perform the flag ceremonies.
  • The meeting agenda will be finalized by Michael and Theresa to include campfire songs, Kandersteg and B&G announcements, the Webelos badge ceremony and a game.
  • The uniform inspection is postponed until the February Pack meeting.

The committee discussed the Blue and Gold Dinner and determined the following:

  • It is believed that Stephanie has secured the venue in Eysins for March 8th
  • The event will replace the scheduled Pack meeting for that weekend and we will not hold an additional Pack meeting in March.
  • Stephanie will contact John Sender to discuss the operation of the sound booth.
  • An announcement will be made at the January and February pack meetings about the change of date.
  • Donation request letters will be updated by Eva and then emailed to the packnext week. At the end of next week, Eva will post request letters to the vendors on the list (see website).
  • Final planning will take place during the two February Committee meetings.
  • The Tigers will organize the hot drinks sales, this year to be located next to the cake contest table, and the Wolves will organize the tombola.
  • Like last year, each den is asked to perform a skit, donate a themed gift basket and solicit donations. The cake decorating contest will again be organized this year as well.
  • The Den Leaders and Committee members are asked to participate in a skit this year. Details to follow in an email.

Update on Dues:

  • All but 5 families have paid their dues.

Update on Re-charter

  • Ellen and John will finalize the re-chartering documents by 15 February. At that time, John will bring it Mr. and MrsThullen for signing. While there, John will make sure the Thullens know the venue and date for the Blue & Gold dinner.

Other Business

  • Theresa will use the BSA website to try to determine the training status of all our adult leaders. Primary concentration will be on making sure all leaders and committee members have completed their Child Protection Training. This will be completed before the end of January.
  • ChristerMalmberg has agreed to take on the roles of Assistant Cubmaster and Pack Outings Chair. The need for a Pack trainer was not discussed. Volunteers for other vacant positions are welcome to step forward.
  • Scout Sunday is on 9 March. Emmanual Church in Geneva will hold a non-denominational ceremony at 10am on this day. All scouts are invited to attend the service in uniform and to enjoy drinks and snacks afterwards. Theresa or John will send out an email with details next week.
  • Due to the cancellation of the March Pack meeting, Den 4 is re-scheduled to hold their flag ceremony during the campout and the Bear dens will be invited to share their den exhibit at any upcoming Pack meeting. Upon their request, we’ll make time for them when planning the meetings.
  • The next two Committee meetingare scheduled for 5 February and 26 February 2014.
