Dear Parents, Staff and Students

At FurlongPark we are very lucky to have a large, Resource Centre full of wonderful things which can help you learn to love learning.

I have also written answers to the questions Maree and I are always asked

Maree and Marion are available to help you borrow and return books.

Our classroom teachers and support staff are also available

How many books can I borrow?

Kinder – Prep can borrow one book each

Year One - Two can borrow two books or one book one video

Year Three, Four Five & Six can borrow three books or two books one video

Parents can borrow up to ten times

Staff have unlimited borrowing

How do I choose a book that is right for me to read by myself?

Use the Five Finger Test

How do I borrow the books I choose?

Go to the Loans Desk

Select(1) Circulation from the Main Menu

Select (1) Loans

Find your year level and name and scan your borrower number from our Borrowers Book

If you are really cleaver you can type your borrow number using the key board

Scan your books and place in your library bag.

How long do I have to read my books?

You can borrow the books for two weeks. You may bring them back before then if you have finished reading them, and if you need them longer please come and see us and we will renew them for you.

What happens if I forget to bring my books back?

If you have a book for more than two weeks, we will send you a reminder to bring it back. If you still do not return it, we will contact your parents and ask them to help you look for it. If it is still not returned, we will post anaccounthome asking you to pay for it. Some of our books cost more than $35.00 so you really need to take great care of them.

You can not borrow any other books if you have books overdue.

How can I look after the books I borrow?

Please make sure that you carry your books in a library bag to protect them. We give you a new one at the start of the year or you can use your old one from previous years

How can I find the special book I am looking for?

If you are looking for a particular book, you can search our on-line catalogue Book Mark PAWS from our library computer

Reference
Reference books are special types of non-fiction books. They include atlases, almanacs, dictionaries and encyclopedias. They usually have a little bit of information about lots of subjects.

Teacher Reference
Teacher Reference books are special types of non-fiction books that only teachers, support staff and parents can borrow

What else can I do in the Resource / eLearning Centre?

New books are constantly being added to the collections so take some time to look at all the new books on display.

You can read magazines, write, draw, do jigsaws, listen to stories or use the computers.

We also create lots of interesting displays to help you choose books that will appeal to you.

How do I return books if Maree or Marion are not there to help me?

Go to the Loans Desk

If the Library Computer is not on

Turn it on

No Password required

Press Enter / Ok

Locate the BookMark ICON

Press Enter till Main Menu appears

Select(1) Circulation from the Main Menu

Select (2) Returns from the Menu

Scan your book and return it to the shelf

Use the call number on the back to remember where to put it

If you are unsure place book in RETURNS BOX on Loans Desk and Maree or Marion will return it for you

I f you return an item and it comes up as a LOST BOOK please do not return it to the shelves place it in the LOST BOOKS BOX near the computer.
