The Dalastrategy 2020 emphasizes the importance of innovative environments and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. In the document advanced industrial collaborations in metallic materials is pointed out, where Triple Steelix is a central player. Through international collaborations and increasing the innovation capacity in the business sector of steel and engineeringshould Dalarna continue to develop specialized products and services that help to solve current and future societal challenges.

The vision of the Innovation Agenda is to strengthen Dalarna as an active and attractive partner that solves current and future societal challenges. Thismeans that open innovation platforms should be developed where knowledge and skills come into their own. In other words - we are connected to global partnerships as an attractive partner.

The long-term development of growth and innovation in Dalarna aims to strengthen the region's economy by supporting entrepreneurs, business networks and clusters. It is a central task to continue to createsupport structures for new and existing enterprisesthat want to grow, find new markets, improve and develop products. The ambition in Dalarna is in line with the vision of Europe in 2020 and the work with Smart specialization.

A priority action is to develop clusters, knowledge environments and strengthen applied research.

Today the clusters have important roles as representatives of their companies and industries. They also interact with the universities, academies and public actors to build knowledge and strengthen the innovation capacity in the region. Clusters drives thusrenewal and innovation processes with national and international partners. The ambition is to build environments for open innovation in energy and environmental technologies and in digitization and service development.

Dalarna hasprioritized three focus areas. One is Metallic Materials, where TripleSteelix and CPCare included, another is Innovative Event Production (travel and tourismindustry, trade, culture and creative industries) and a third is Energy Efficient Society(power transmission, traffic, and construction). They all have the potential to be further developed into open innovation environments that enhance research, innovation and international collaboration. These priorities are central to the innovation agenda and our work with smart specialization in the region.
