A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Jack Clayton Collings.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Jack Clayton Collings, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, Jack Clayton Collings was born on March 22, 1927, a native of Calhoun, McLean County, Kentucky, and longtime resident of Owensboro, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on February 15, 2000; and

WHEREAS, Jack Clayton Collings was the loving son of the late Felix and Christine Kerrick Collings; he was the caring brother of Gerald Collings of Greensburg, Kentucky; he was the devoted husband of Nelda Barton-Collings; he was the adored father of David Collings and his wife, Lea Ann, of Sabina, Ohio, Mark Collings and his wife, Kathy, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, Mary Beth Durham and her husband, Terry, of Owensboro, Kentucky, and Julie Estes and her husband, David, of Franklin, Tennessee; four stepchildren, Barbara Barton of Denver, Colorado, Bryan and Pam Barton of Corbin, Kentucky, Steve and Kim Barton of Corbin, Kentucky, and Greg and Suzie Razmus of Nashville, Tennessee; and he was the proud grandfather of Clay, Mary Chris, and Rob Durham; Benjamen and Nathan Collings; James, Meagan and Jonathon Collings; Mary Clay, Lucy, Ellie, and Anna Grace Estes; and he was also the proud grandfather of eleven step grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Jack Clayton Collings was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville School of Medicine; he was a retired family practitioner who had practiced medicine in Owensboro, Kentucky, and he was a gentleman farmer; and

WHEREAS, Jack Clayton Collings served his country with pride in the United States Army during World War II, at which time his duties included being the chauffeur to former First Lady Mamie Eisenhower; and

WHEREAS, Jack Clayton Collings attended the Shiner Church of Christ in Corbin, Kentucky, and he was a member of Lewis Lane Baptist Church in Owensboro, Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Jack Clayton Collings has left a void that will be difficult to fill, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Jack Clayton Collings, and extends to his family and friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Jack Clayton Collings.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Nelda Barton-Collings, 1311 Seventh Street Road, Corbin, Kentucky 40701.
