/ PresidentARL Awards - Being held at Central TAFE. 16th of March at 5pm. Request for committee members to attend. BC will attend and give award. BC suggests CSU be included in the awards.
Literacy Matters – State Library Initiative – will sit back and watch progress. BC attended nothing changed. Use our list for PD and Conference. Use Steve Krashen List to advertise and let them know about PD. Appendix 4 – participants’ contacts – BL to set up.
FutureNow Libraries Museums and Galleries Industry Advisory Group – George has volunteered to attend on behalf of WASLA. FutureNow is the Training Council responsible for representing industry’s voice on matters of workforce development and training for the Creative and Leisure industries. 18 March, 10am, at FutureNow's address in Osborne Park. The meetings are expected to last 1-1.5 hours and there will be 2-3 meetings per year.
IFLA – meeting in the Hague today - Key Initiative 1.1.2 Expand and promote a framework for media and information literacies, Learning from the Literacy Key Initiative. Use these documents for keeping TL’s in our schools.
Australian Law Librarians’ Association WA - propose a collective photographic opportunity – scheduled for 9 June 2016 Appendix 6
QSLA – AGM – 19/3/16 meeting 12pm WST – advice on PDs and how they can rejuvenate their association. Shirley stepping down from president position. QSLA to provide information on Principals Award – any WASLA committee member to attend – Nat & Mike said they would be able to attend. / BC - Need to add the ARL Awards sponsorship onto our Awards and Sponsor Policy. To do – not for profit free if advertising is free

Library tour Penrhos College. 4pm – 5.15pm, Pecha Kutcha sharing, 23rd March, informal, Amanda Stewart, Penrhos to supply afternoon tea. Email RSVP to RM. Name – “Presenting Penrhos” – Amanda Stewart did not approve of this name – advertising – 20 people so far, plus Mike, Helen & Nat, library and suppliers.SLCWA – advertising – needs to be weekly. Appendix 5. PD lists for 2014 birds of a feather and Steven Krashen – send direct invite to conference.

4 / Social Media Committee – Creating a policy and FB group / Twitter feed for WASLA and SLCWA – not live yet. AUP for use – coming on email. Set up conference and Facebook page. Launch. Thanks to SB and the Committee for all her work.

Suggested that an email out to members highlighting special contents of IC3, be sent before issue is mailed out. Nat to complete.

Sent nominations across to ALIA, plus LMc bio and Penhros information plus image. / BC – keep Committee informed of progress
7 / Incorporation and Officers – BC & VB to attend 23 March PTCWA AGM & incorporation meeting.

· 4 Memberships pending – awaiting for paperwork or EFT payments
· The new “Relief Form” is now on the website and BL has started a new excel database, when this is completed with the new data, BL will send out an email to members and through WASLAnet to let everyone know. After this it is expected people to get who were previously on the register to make contact.

9 / Treasurer –
· Bankwest Statement (Feb 29 2016) - $16,833.36
· Payments – very few transactions during the month. The usual payment including PO Box (Australia Post); EO (BL) and external hard drive for Phyllis (secretary). In addition : 2 x $100 cheques for the ARL Awardees ( to be handed out tomorrow evening) / Val not present, BL presented VB report
10 / Secretary –
Currently setting up assets register, PP to pass on contact details of Vanessa Rooney (Central TAFE) to RM in regards to cataloguing courses/PD. Suggested casual Coffee meetings for networking, not a formal PD – chat, coffee & cake! / PP to email details to RM
11 / Web Manager – BL & VB currently managing website. VB & BL are managing the website – updating website as needed.
Advertising – issue of non-profit organisations – reword policy – free if the PD is free otherwise they are working towards a profit.
12 / LOs – BC – proposed to write to Principals of schools that have LOs what WASLA has to offer in regards to PD or provided consulting services ($500.00), proposed advocacy packs. This will be a large job. Val to go to Mandurah TL PLN, Nat to South of the River. / BC to write letter to Principals.
13 / Catholic Conference – Campbell Town – request for WASLA thumb drives. / BC
14 / Lisa Crofts resigned from committee, due to family and work commitments. Meeting venue to now rotate between BL & VB homes.

Appendix 2 - PD Sub-Committee notes
· Term 1 – Birds of a Feather “Come one, come all”.
o Plan to hold at Perth Modern – Hanneke to follow this up
o Proposed date – 12 March (week 6)
o Plan to hold between 6-8 sessions, roughly 10 to 15 mins each.
o 8.30am for a 9am start.
o Continue with poster theme – Natasha to send through poster.
o Hanneke to follow up trybooking for the ‘payment’ and management of attendees
o Rebecca to send out email for speakers.
· Term 2 – SLCWA Conference
o 3/4 June 2016 – Week 6 Term 2
· Term 3 – proposed Carol Tomlinson
o Based on the model like Steven Krashen in 2015
o Lisa to follow up dates – committee would prefer a Saturday

Appendix 3 - Awards Sub-Committee notes
· For 2016:
o Nomination forms sent out Week 2, Term 1.
o Nominations due Friday 8 May, Week 10, Term 1.
o Awards sub-committee to discuss the nominations and make a decision at committee meeting on 13 May.
o Rebecca to organise trophies, certificates, etc
o Awardees will be announced and presented at the SLCWA Conference – approx.. 10 minutes required.
o Barb C to confirm time, location of the ‘ceremony’
· Award Policies to be updated – committee proposed making 3 awards – TL, LT and LO
o TL Award to receive certificate, trophy, $250

· For 2017:
o The committee agreed the dates are suitable and the ‘ceremony’ will occur at the WASLA Mini Conference
· Proposed change to Awards Dinner as no longer required:
o Change the occasion to an informal social gathering
o Keep date as 26 November, around 4 – 7pm
o Location – somewhere in Swan Valley
o Price – around $30, perhaps given a drink token and then purchase own drinks but nibbles provided.
