SNAC Bites – January 2008
Welcome to the second edition of SNAC Bites or SNA Communication Bites.
The aim of this monthly email is to help highlight new SNA programs and provide topics and content for your state association newsletters and chapter meetings.
The email has a very simple format and will include 5 topics, each with an introductory heading and a link to further information where you can pick up content for your newsletters.
1. Music Legend Patti LaBelle to Perform at ANC 2008
Are you ready for an event that is sure to bring down the house? Then you won’t want to miss the Final Event at SNA’s Annual National Conference (ANC) in Philadelphia, July 20-23, 2008. This wonderful evening will feature legendary songstress Patti LaBelle, who will perform R&B and pop hits that will have you shakin’ and groovin’ in your seats! 2. Bridges to Wellness - Free Nutrition Education Materials!
Coordinate with teachers to connect the classroom and the cafeteria with new Bridges to Wellness nutrition education materials. Download interactive lessons and application activities for the classroom and the cafeteria at: www.schoolnutrition.org/bridgestowellness. The first two comprehensive lessons for students in grades 5-10 address the nutrient package of dairy and the food groups to encourage. Look for two additional lessons in summer 2008!
3. Global Child Nutrition Month – April 2008
SNA and its Global Child Nutrition Foundation (GCNF) are pleased to announce April 2008 as Global Child Nutrition Month. 4. SNA Trends Report
Find out what school nutrition directors had to say about what’s new for the 2007-08 school year in SNA’s 2007 Trends Report. This report includes information on the most popular food and beverage items, efforts being made to increase the availability of healthy foods, changes being made in the cafeteria, and economic issues facing school nutrition programs. 5. SNA Awards Program
The SNA award program is a great opportunity to highlight the outstanding and important programs SNA members undertake. Members and state affiliates are eligible for many awards and honors that recognize their achievements in school nutrition, membership recruitment and professional development.
