Dr. Rong Fu Wang, Ph.D., M.D., Professor

Professor Rong Fu Wang was born in Napping, Fujian Province on September, 1955. He graduated from Fujian Medical College with a Bachelor of Science in Medicine in 1982, and then engaged in clinical practice, teaching and scientific research in Fujian Medical University. In 1990, he was awarded the scholarship to study in France as a visiting scholar by the National Education Committee. He obtained his first doctor degree in Nuclear Medicine at the Fifth University of Paris (Université René Descartes-Paris), under the supervision of Professor Andre Syrota, who was the chief of French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), researching on Neurotrasmitters and Neuroreceptor imaging; while he also studied Cardiovascular and Urinary system Nuclear Medicine at Surney Heart-special Hospital and the diagnosis and therapy of pulmonary embolism in Laennac Hospital in Paris. The second doctor degree in Radiopharmacology was granted from the Third University of Toulouse (Université Paul Sabatier-Toulouse III) in 1995. After graduation, Prof. Wang returned back to China and started to work in Department of Nuclear Medicine, Peking University First Hospital till now. He is the Director of Department of Nuclear Medicine, Peking University Health Science Center, Peking University First Hospital & Peking University International Hospital, and the Chief of “Peking University First Medical School (PKUFMS)-Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM) Molecular Imaging Center”(JHUSOM) Molecular Imaging Center”, a part-time evaluation expert for National Science and Technology Progress Award, Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award, and Natural Science Foundation of China, and evaluation expert for International Cooperation Program, Ministry of Science and Technology. He occupies Chairman of Nuclear Medicine, Committee of National High-tech Health Industry, acting chairman of the Society of Chinese Nuclear Medicine Equipment and Techniques (SCNMET), vice-president of Nuclear Medicine Society of Chinese Nuclear Society, vice-president of Chinese Society of Tumor Imaging, vice-president of Beijing Nuclear Society and vice-president of Beijing Society of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging of Beijing Nuclear Society. Prof. Wang is hired as the editor in chief of Journal of Molecular Biology and Techniques (USA), the columnist-in-chief of China Modern Medicine, the vice editor in chief of Journal Labeled Immunoassays & Clinical Medicine (China) and more editorial board members & peer reviewer of international and domestic journals. He was repeatedly invited to participate in academic conferences at home and abroad and report and host, and undertakes a number of national and ministerial level research projects in the project, and editor in chief textbooks and monographs 16, more than 40 of the Department of textbooks and monographs, published more than 400 papers including 50 SCI papers, won 3 patents in China, 3 ministerial level Science and Technology Achievement Awards and 1 ministerial Teaching Achievement Award. Prof. Wang engages in application of nuclear science and technology in the field of medicine, including radionuclide diagnosis, radiotherapy, radiation protection and safety, and the study and application of PET, PET/CT, SPECT, SPECT/CT and animal PET, SPECT techniques, and molecular nuclear medicine including development of radiopharmaceuticals, Monoclonal antibody radioimmunoimaging and therapy, gene imaging and therapy, novel molecular probes for dementia and tumor angiogenesis.
