Visitors to Brisbane Youth Education & Training Centre

Due to the fact that Brisbane Youth Education & Training Centre is situated within the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre it is requirement of this school to ask that all visitors to our facility adhere to the conditions outlined below.

Dress Codes

Visitors to the Centre must dress appropriately in business attire. Female visitors are advised not to wear open-toe shoes but comfortable closed-in shoes. No sleeveless, see-through or revealing clothing is permitted.

Centre Security

Centre security is necessary for the provision of a safe environment for young people, employees and visitors. All visitors are required to provide photo identification when signing the visitors log at reception. All visitors are required to pass through the metal detector unit when entering the Centre.

Visitors are required to submit any hand luggage or items permitted to be brought into the Centre through the x-ray unit located adjacent to the metal detector unit.

A locker is provided by BYDC Reception to secure personal items such as wallets, car keys, mobile telephones etc prior to the visit.

What I CAN bring in:

· Personal paperwork

· A clear plastic carry bag.

What I can NOT bring in:

· Cigarettes

· Lighters

· Mobile telephones and photographic equipment

· Laptop computers and USBs (without prior authorisation)

It is an offence to carry, attempt to pass, or pass to young people any items not authorised by the Centre. In the event of these items being brought into the Centre, then police may be notified. In addition, restrictions / conditions may be placed on future visits to the Centre.
