Unit One Project: “Who Am I?”

Overview: Since the beginning of school, you have learned about multiple personality preferences. You were able to read about each preference and then identify with which personality preference you were closely related to. Based on your study of these personality preferences and figuring out more about yourself as an individual, you are now asked to create a project that really embodies…

“Who Are You?”

Project Options:

1.  A poster collage (chart paper, poster board, or 4 pieces of 8 ½ x 11 construction taped together)

  1. Written narrative describing IN DETAIL about what your poster includes and why did you include those items on your poster. Include a short introduction and two body paragraphs describing your poster along with a short conclusion. This will be attached to the poster.
  2. Include (but not limited to) 10 items that describes who you are, your personality, and your identity. (ex: your national flag, pictures of favorite foods from your culture, a map of where you are from, family photos, activities you enjoy help define who you are, 3-D items (a NY Yankee ticket because baseball helps identify you), chop sticks to represent your culture, awards and medals, certificates, report cards, excellent student work, etc. THIS PORTION IS WHERE YOU ARE TO SHINE AS AN INDIVIDUAL! BE CREATIVE!
  3. A title on your poster (Your name, where you are from, etc) (ex: “ The life of John Smith!”
  4. Captions under each item labeling what it is
  5. Color! BE CREATIVE!! Photos! J

2.  “Where I am From” Illustrated POEM

a.  TWO rough drafts of “Build Your Own Where I’m From Poem” with edits and revisions

b.  The final copy of the Illustrated poem on a POSTER size paper (chart paper, poster board, or 4 pieces of 8 ½ x 11 construction taped together)

c.  A picture for EACH statement (EX: I am from Dominican Republic…then show a flag or map of the Dominican Republic next to this statement) on the final copy poster paper.

  1. Written narrative describing IN DETAIL about what your illustrated poem that includes why you included the statements and information in your illustrated poem. Include a short introduction and two body paragraphs describing your poem along with a short conclusion. This will be attached to the poster.
  2. A title on your poster of your poem
  3. Color! BE CREATIVE!! Photos! J
  4. You do not have to follow the style or format of the “Build Your own Where I’m From Poem”. Check with your advisor for approval about changing the format or writing your own version of a poem.

3.  Who Am I Mobile

  1. Include (not limited to) 10 items (tangible objects or pictures attached to index cards) to hang from the mobile. (EX: Pictures, awards, school work, art, song lyrics, certificates, letters, cards, or anything else that represents you and could be hung easily)
  2. A title on your mobile
  3. Color! BE CREATIVE!! Photos! J
  4. Under EACH item, attach an index card that gives a short explanation of how these items are evidence of who you are. When you’re done it might look like this:
