THE SEVEN SPIRITS OF GOD ARE UPON SAMSON

01-22-06

(Judg 13:24,25) And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson [sunlight: the son of man & the Son of God]: and the child grew [Isaac - Gen 21:8; Moses - Exo 2:10; Samson - Judg 13:24; John The Baptist – Luke 1:80; Jesus – Luke 2:40], and the LORD blessed him. And the spirit of the LORD began to move him at times in the camp of Dan [judge] between Zorah [a wasp (as stinging): hornet] and Eshtaol [intreaty /// prayer].

THE SEVEN LOCKS OF HIS HEAD

(Judg 16:16-20) And it came to pass, when she [Delilah: languishing (death)] pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death; That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite [separated] unto God from my mother's womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man. And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath showed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand [“the love of money is the root of all evil” 1 Tim 6:10]. And she made him sleep upon her knees [an expression of dominion]; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks [a ringlet of hair (as gliding over each other): lock] of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him. And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.

1. (Isa 11:1-5) And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; And [ALL OF THIS] shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes [“(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)” 2 Cor 5:7], neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: But with righteousness shall he judge the poor [“And he (Samson) judged Israel twenty years” Judg 16:31], and reprove with equity [uprightness] for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth [“The Word of God” Rev 19:13-15], and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness [Judg 13-16 & Heb 11:32] the girdle of his reins.

2. (Rev 1:4) John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

3. (Rev 3:1) And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

4. (Rev 4:5) And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

5. (Rev 5:6) And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb [“a rod out of the stem of Jesse” Isa 11:1] as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

THE SPIRIT OF GOD DEPARTED FROM SAMSON;

AND HE IS IMMEDIATELY BLINDED AND BOUND WITH THE CORDS OF HIS SINS

(Judg 16:21) But the [uncircumcised] Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down [Throughout Judges chapters 14,15,16 Samson keeps going “down” lower and lower, farther and farther from God] to Gaza [strong; one of the five principal cities of the Philistines], and bound him with fetters of brass [copper; fig. base (as compared with gold or silver): chains, filthiness]; and he did grind [to grind meal (the work of a woman or a slave; working for Satan)] in the prison house.

1. (Prov 5:21,22) For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings. His own iniquities [evils: sins] shall take [Heb: lakad; to catch (in a net, trap or pit); gen. to capture or occupy; be holden] the wicked himself, and he shall be holden [Heb: tamak; kept fast] with the cords of his sins.

2. (Job 36:7-13) He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous [just, lawful]: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted. And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden [Heb: lakad] in cords of affliction [depression, misery, troubles]; Then he showeth them their work [deeds], and their transgressions [sins] that they have exceeded [NKJV: acted defiantly; NIV: sinned arrogantly]. He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity. If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge [of God and Heaven, i.e. the Kingdom of God]. But the hypocrites [soiled (i.e. with sin), impious; NT = actors] in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.

3. (Isa 42:6,7) I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

4. (Mat 11:28-30) Come unto me, all ye that labour [to feel fatigue; to work hard: toil, be wearied] and are heavy laden [overburdened “and he did grind” Judg 16:21], and I will give you rest. Take [i.e. accept, willingly submit to] my yoke upon you, and learn [understand] of me; for I am meek [gentle, i.e. humble] and lowly [humble] in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy [employed, (by impl.) useful (in manner or morals): better, easy, good (-ness), gracious, kind], and my burden [task or service] is light.

5. yoke = Gk: (to join espec. by a "yoke"); a coupling, i.e. (fig.) servitude a law or obligation); also (lit.) the beam of the balance (as connecting the scales):--pair of balances, yoke.

6. yoke = Dict: a contrivance for joining together a pair of draft animals, espec. oxen, usually consisting of a crosspiece with two bow-shaped pieces beneath, one at each end, each bow enclosing the head of an animal.

7. yokefellow = Dict: 1. an intimate associate; a partner. 2. a spouse. Also, yoke-mate.

(Judg 16:22) Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven [?????].
