Effective Teachers’ Appraisal and
Preparing for Pay Changes in 2014
Monday, 30 June – Wednesday, 2 July – Friday, 4 July
September 2013 saw the introduction of performance related pay progression for teachers in maintained schools. Schools must set out in their appraisal and pay policies how performance is measured and how pay determinations will be managed from 1 September 2014. Now is the time to refresh your knowledgein readiness for end of year reviews.
The School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document will introduce changes to leadership pay from 1 September 2014 and we are expecting new national head teacher standards in the autumn term. There are also some changes to teachers’ conditions and allowances which will provide schools with more local flexibility. Our existing model policies for teachers’ appraisal and whole school pay are being updated in light of these changes and will be recommended to schools in June for adoption from 1 September 2014.
It is important to be aware of the changes in light of the focus on performance management during Ofsted inspections.
