THE CENTENNIAL FARM GOLF CLUB

SENIOR MENS’ NINE HOLE TUESDAY GOLF LEAGUE

RULES OF PLAY FOR 2014 (revised Sept. 2013)

1 USGA rules govern all play except where modified by the local rules listed below. League Manager Software will be used for all calculations, such as handicaps, scores, and rankings, in this league.

2 All members must be at least 55 years of age.

3 Play on all holes must commence at the “white tees” that are located one tee box behind the red tee markers regardless of the actual location of the white tee markers.

a. Hole #14

Players on the RED tees will play one tee box back of the RED tee markers and players on the WHITE tees will play from one tee box back of the tee box used by the RED tee players. This applies even though no RED tee players are in the foursome.

4 Players at least 80 years of age may play from the RED tees; BUT THE DECISION TO DO SO MUST BE MADE AND REPORTED TO THE LEAGUE ADMINISTRATOR BEFORE THE SEASON BEGINS AND CANNOT BE REVERSED AT ANY TIME DURING THE SEASON, WITHOUT EXCEPTION. The names of players who decide to use the red tee markers will be identified on the handicap sheet with ( R ). Handicaps for players changing to the red tee markers from the white tees will not be carried over from the previous year, but will be calculated by the formula for new members. League Manager Software will calculate the handicap. Course par (35) or (36) for the back nine will be deducted from the actual score and that amount multiplied by 90% to obtain the handicap for that week.

5 All matches must be played as scheduled unless a conflict makes it impossible. When that occurs the players should use substitutes OR the match may be played at another time by prior mutual agreement between opponents. Such matches must be completed at least one week prior to the last match for the season. The official scorecard must be signed by a member of each team and delivered to the League Administrator at the earliest of the next scheduled match or 3 days prior the last match of the season. Failure to actually complete the match will result in forfeiture of points for both teams.

6 Inclement weather:

a. In the event that play is questionable due to inclement weather, the final decision (play or not play) will be made by the League Administrator in conjunction with the Centennial Farm Golf Club. If play has not been cancelled at least forty-five minutes prior to the tee time it is considered a day of play. Important: Contact the Centennial Farm Golf Club (800-745-8277) for information about whether or not play has been cancelled.

b. If a total rainout is declared by the League Administrator the

match will be voided and NO makeup is needed.

c. In the event that inclement weather develops during a match the procedure listed below will apply:

i. All members of the group must agree to continue play. If one or more members dissent, play will be discontinued.

ii. All scores to that point will be official and the round must be completed as soon as weather permits or as stated in Rule 5 above.

7. Absences.

A. Without substitute: If neither member of a team is available to play at their scheduled tee time, and an alternate tee time has not been arranged with their opponents in advance, all six points are awarded the team ready for play provided that team plays nine holes at the scheduled time and turns in a properly completed scorecard. If only one member of a team is available for play at the scheduled tee time and both members of the opposing team are available, he will play a member of the opposing team in accordance with the normal selection procedure. If he defeats his opponent, his team will be awarded two points, which is the maximum number of points he can win. The two points for the match and two points for the other member of the opposing team are forfeited. Ghost Subs will not be allowed.

B. With substitute: A substitute should be arranged for in advance and the League Administrator notified as soon as possible to include the substitute on the pre-printed score cards. The substitute will play the match like a regular player in that he will play the player on the opposing team based on handicap rankIing. If the substitute has no handicap, League Manager software will calculate the handicap and assign match opponents and points won after the match.

8. Points for Match Play

Players with the lowest handicap on each team will play each

other and their partners with higher handicaps will play each other. Six points are awarded for each match: two points for the NET score of each player winning the most holes and two points for the combined NET score of each team winning the most holes. If two opposing players win the same number of holes, each player will receive one point. If each team wins the same number of holes, each team will be awarded one point.

9. All scorecards must be turned into the Centennial Farm Golf Club office

or the League Administrator. COMPLETE WITH PRINTED FULL SURNAMES,

CURRENT HANDICAPS, ACTUAL TOTALS, POINTS WON BY EACH

TEAM, DATED AND SIGNED BY A MEMBER OF EACH TEAM.

10. Players may improve their lie in the fairway and rough by “rolling the

Ball” with the golf club not to exceed the length of a scorecard. Players

cannot lift the ball with their hands.

11. OUT-OF- BOUNDS & OFF TEE BOX

White stakes designate out of bounds.

· Any ball hit out-of-bounds will be placed in play two club lengths from where it crossed the out-of- bounds line or hazard (not horizontally in line with the recovered ball) and one stroke penalty will be taken.

12. LOST BALL/ UNPLAYABLE/ OFF TEE BOX

At any time on the golf course (except in the water) a player may declare

his ball unplayable or lost after a shot. The player with one stroke penalty has one of three choices:

A. Drop his ball within two club lengths of the spot where the ball

lies or was last seen if lost but not closer to the hole.

B. Drop the ball any distance behind where the ball lies, keeping

the original spot between himself and the hole.

C. Return to the spot where the ball was originally struck and hit

another ball.

13. A free drop is allowed from any tree or shrub less than two club lengths

in height and all staked areas around recently planted trees. If a ball lies

near a rock or root that could damage a club, the player should notify his

opponent and drop at the point of nearest relief (not closer to the hole)

without penalty.

14. HOLE #8

If the first drive is hit into the water hazard and determined to be unplayable the next ball will be hit from a location in front of the pump house. It will be dropped no more than 8 ft in front of the pump house

and the 2nd ball will be hit with a one stroke penalty.

15. Handicaps for last year’s league participants will be used as

starting handicaps for this year. Handicaps are calculated weekly by

GOLF SOFTWARE using the last five (5) scores then multiplied by

90% to arrive at their adjusted official handicap.

16. All handicapping will follow USGA rules; i.e., stroke difference between

opponents will be allowed per the official scorecard. Strokes will be

applied one hole at a time according to the ‘difficulty ratings’ assigned

each hole until the entire handicap difference is honored except that

strokes will be given on Par 3 holes last.

17. In auditing scorecards ‘USGA EQUITABLE STROKE CONTROL’ will be

used to limit strokes on each hole prior to determining handicaps as

follows: (Post actual scores, the software will calculate the limits)

PLAYER HANDICAP LIMITATION ON HOLE

4 or less Limit of 6 on any hole

5 through 9 Limit of 7 on any hole

10 through 14 Limit of 8 on any hole

15 through 19 Limit of 9 0n any hole

20 through 24 Limit of 10 0n any hole

25 or higher Limit of 11 on any hole

18. Dues per regular golfer for the season will be $38.00 which includes

a $13.00 honorarium is awarded to the League Administrator

for service & to maintain an active software subscription and pay for

the disposable supplies needed i.e. postage, paper etc.

The remaining $25.00 fee per golfer will pay for the banquet at the end of

the season and the prizes awarded at that time.

The League Administrator will keep unspent money in a local

bank account and a full-time league member should be a co-signer on the

account. A financial statement will be prepared at the end of the season.
