AS History Summer Work

Task1: A brief timeline of Italian History.

Create a timeline from 500 BC to the founding of the European Union in 1993. (Italy was a founding member)

Remember that a timeline is a mathematical graph so it should have a scale of some sort (e.g. 1cm = 100 years).

Label key political events in Italian History from reading this article http://www.lifeinitaly.com/culture/history

Task 2: How unified has Italy been throughout history?

Write one page explaining your observations from the timeline.

·  Explain how far Italy appears ‘unified’.

(e.g. geographically, culturally, politically, religiously, economically etc.).

·  Give examples from your timeline to back up your ideas.

·  What factors seem to encourage unification through history? Give an example.

·  What factors seem to hinder unification through history? Give an example.

Please email any concerns to

Have a lovely summer break and we look forward to seeing you in September. J
