TC 1-218 New ATM “CHEAT SHEET”

NORMAL/INSTRUMENT TAKEOFF

· P* advances power and calls SET POWER

· P sets power and replies POWER SET

· At 65 Knots P calls NORMAL

· At V1/Vr P calls V1, ROTATE

· P* puts both hands on yoke and rotates

· When two positive climb indications are noted P calls POSITIVE RATE

· P* calls GEAR UP

· P moves gear handle to the RETRACT position and states GEARS IS UP or GEAR DID NOT RETRACT

· At 105 KIAS (minimum) P* calls FLAPS UP

· P moves flaps to the UP position and replies FLAPS ARE UP

· P* climbs at V2 + 5 until 500’ AGL

· After 500’ AGL P* establishes cruise climb airspeed and calls SET PROPS TO 1900

· P reduces power, sets props to 1900 and replies PROPS ARE 1900 then sets climb power.

SLOW FLIGHT

· Set props to 1900 and perform BEFORE LANDING CHECK.

· When speed allows call for P to set flaps to FULL down.

· Perform slow flight at Vref ±5 KIAS.

· Recover to 160 KIAS in clean configuration.

TOUCH & GO LANDING

· After touchdown IP states STABILIZE POWER

· P* advances power levers to 12 o’clock

· After IP set props to high RPM, flaps and trim to the appropriate takeoff position he calls ADVANCE POWER

· P* advances power levers and calls SET POWER

· IP sets and maintains takeoff power and replies POWER SET and at V1 calls V1/ROTATE

NORMAL LANDING

· On downwind P* calls FLAPS APPROACH, GEAR DOWN, BEFORE LANDING CHECK

· P extends flaps to APPROACH then moves gear handle to the EXTEND position and states FLAPS APPROACH, GEARS IS DOWN then reads the before landing checklist.

· On base or final P* calls PROPS HIGH RPM, LANDING CHECK, P moves props to high RPM and states PROPS HIGH then reads landing checklist.

· At the discretion of the P* he calls FLAPS FULL (or XX%)

· P moves flap handle to requested position and states flap position.

GO-AROUND

· P* advances power levers to initiate maneuver and calls GO AROUND, SET POWER

· P replies POWER SET

· If flaps are beyond APPROACH P* calls FLAPS APPROACH

· P moves flaps to the UP then APPROACH position and replies FLAPS APPROACH

· P calls POSITIVE RATE after observing two positive climb indications.

· P* calls GEAR UP

· P moves gear handle to the RETRACT position and states GEARS IS UP or GEAR DID NOT RETRACT

· At 105 KIAS P* calls FLAPS UP

· P moves flap handle to the UP position and replies FLAPS ARE UP

APPROACHES TO STALL

· Three configurations:

· Clean (gear & flaps UP)

· Gear DOWN & flaps APPROACH

· Gear DOWN and flaps FULL

· Power set to 10-20% (200-400 lbs.) torque

· Recover at first indication of impending stall (stall horn, buffet, or loss of control effectiveness)

ENGINE FAILURE DURING CRUISE

· P* adds power and calls CONFIRM #1 (or 2) HAS FAILED

· P replies I CONFIRM #1 (or 2) HAS FAILED

· P* calls IDENTIFY THE #1 (or 2) PROP LEVER

· P points to the #1 (or 2) prop lever.

· P* calls FEATHER THE PROP

· P feathers the propeller

ENGINE FAILURE DURING TAKEOFF

· At the POSITIVE RATE call for GEAR UP.

· Confirm DID THE PROPELLER FEATHER?

· If not the P* calls IDENTIFY THE #1 (or #2) PROP LEVER

· The P will place his finger on the appropriate prop lever. The P* will visually confirm the correct prop is identified and state I AGREE FEATHER THE PROP (or NEGATIVE, REIDENTIFY THE #__ PROP)

· Climb at V2/Vyse

· At 105 KIAS the P* calls for FLAPS UP
