Special Wave grants are currently open to ONLY the top 25 Impaired Driving problem identification counties with an effective date of August 1, 2015. Deadline for applications is: July 24, 2015.

After initial kickoff in problem identification counties, applications will be opened statewide starting

July 27 through July 31, 2015 with the earliest effective date of August 1, 2015 to any interested agencies.

Grants period: August 1, 2015 - September 30, 2015

Grants will be determined based on population of county or city as follows:

Up to 1,000 in population $2,500 84 overtime hours 10 DUI Arrests

1001 – 15,000 in population $5,000 168 overtime hours 21 DUI Arrests

15,001+ in population $7,500 252 overtime hours 31 DUI Arrests

There are three grant agreement templates with listed budget amounts and performance measures that the agencies may select. Complete the application and return two (2) original copies signed in blue ink by the authorized signatory official (Mayor or Board of Supervisor President) to the MS Office of Highway Safety The Local Government Resolution can be provided later, prior to the issuance of the approved contract agreement.

Implementation sessions will be scheduled for the purpose of reviewing grant forms and expectations for all Special Wave projects. Signed contract agreements will be issued during the implementation. (Date: TBA)
