Pet Agreement

(Addendum to the Queensland Residential Tenancy Agreement)

This agreement is attached to and forms a part of the Queensland Residential Tenancy Agreement dated [insert date] between [insert Landlord’s name] (the Landlord), and [insert Tenant’s name] (the Tenant).

The Tenant desires to keep a pet named [insert pet’s name] and described as [insert a description of the pet] in the dwelling they occupy under the Tenancy Agreement referred to above.

The Tenant agrees to the following terms and conditions in exchange for the Landlords permission to keep a pet:

  1. The Tenant agrees to keep their pet under control at all times.
  2. The Tenant agrees to keep their pet restrained, but not tethered, when it is outside their dwelling.
  3. The Tenant agrees to adhere toany minimum standards, leashing requirements, registration requirements and any other requirements that may apply whether under the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008, QLDor any other local and/or state rules and laws which may apply.
  4. The Tenant agrees not to leave their pet unattended for any unreasonable periods.
  5. The Tenant agrees to clean up after their pet and to dispose of their pet's waste properly and quickly.
  6. The Tenant agrees not to leave food or water for their pet or any other animal outside their dwelling where it may attract other animals.
  7. The Tenant agrees to keep their pet from being unnecessarily noisy or aggressive and causing any annoyance or discomfort to others and will remedy immediately any complaints made through the Landlord or Landlords Agent.
  8. The Tenant agrees to provide their pet with regular health care, to include inoculations as recommended.
  9. The Tenant agrees to provide their pet with an identification tag.
  10. The Tenant agrees to re-home their pet’s offspring within eight weeks of birth.
  11. The Tenant agrees to pay immediately for any damage, loss, or expense caused by their pet.
  12. The Tenant agrees that this Agreement applies only to the specific pet described above and that no other pet may be substituted.
  13. The Tenant agrees to furnish the Landlord with a picture of their pet.
  14. The Tenant agrees that the Landlord reserves the right to revoke permission to keep the pet should the Tenants break this agreement.
