PERSON SPECIFICATION

Circles of Support Co-ordinator

Essential

· At least two years Project Development and Co-ordination experience, preferably within the not-for-profit sector;

· Good experience of working with young people with a wide range of disabilities, including learning disabilities, and their families and involved professionals.

· Fluency in written and spoken English and ability to communicate effectively and confidently.

· Excellent presentational, interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to relate to young people and people with disabilities/special needs.

· Passionate about providing opportunities that change people’s lives and especially for young people with special needs and disabilities.

· The ability to work independently and with own initiative - and to contribute positively and effectively as part of a team;

· Ability to take initiative and exercise sound judgment in complex situations;

· Good organisation and coordination skills, self-administration and knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques;

· Ability to prioritise and execute key tasks amongst a range of competing demands;

· Ability to develop short, medium and long-range goals and translate them into measurable action plans;

· Budgeting and numeracy skills, including an ability to demonstrate integrity and care in costing and pricing activities and monitoring of volunteer expenses;

· Flexibility and adaptability, to meet a wide range of demands; willingness to work a proportion of hours in evenings and at weekends (see job description).

· Familiarity with MS Office applications, including word, excel, email and the internet. Able to present effectively, including using MS Powerpoint.

· Ability to train and supervise volunteers.

· The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and requires and enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check.

· Use of a car and a valid driving licence with no more than 3 points.

Desirable

· Professional Qualifications in Youth Work and/or Social Care.

· Experience of working in a special school or similar environment
