Planned activities on site:
This is a Full Beacon: PREWORKS & INTEGRATION – Full Beacon completion (22/01- ADDED)
Operatives on Site: These are 2 man sites. Minimum of two for working at height
Working Hours: 08:00/18:00
Task Duration: 3 Days
Location and site access details: Knightswood. 61 Gorget Avenue. Glasgow. Strathclyde. G13 2AL. For access e-mail (Grant Clayton) with RA attached. The housing assoc. number is 0141 248 7851. From GW MTX, Exit business park turn left up kilbowie Rd, at roundabout take right exit for Glasgow A82. Follow Rd thru next roundabout, now follow Rd (approx 2.6miles) look on LHS for kiddies play area football fields. Turn left immediately after this into Gorget Ave. Now take 2nd left into 61 Gorget Ave (flats). Access into block before late afternoon can be made using 'service' button. Take lift to 6th floor walk to 7th. Now up 1.5m fixed vertical ladder into lift room, outdoor & turn left to site.
Working Environment & Restrictions: I.e. Asbestos: No major H&S issues with this site as know. LEAD Engineer to identify any (site specific) H&S issues not covered & these must be controlled recorded prior to any work starting. Ensure all rooftop access doors are secure during work been undertaken. ETON (Amberon) will be needed. A Crane (Ainscough) will be required for delivery/removal of equipment. Drop zone around crane. TM/PM (Amberon) will be needed. Ensure you secure/cordon off any work activities from public access. Take Hand tools/Laptops (+PDF/cert dongle) Appropriate PPE to be worn at all times. (No ESAS)
Protection of others: Discus proposed works with site representative if possible confirms what known existing hazards exist. Obtain information reference the location of fire assembly points and alarms. Mobile phone numbers to be exchanged and to be used in the event of any emergency. Note any hazards identified on Dynamic Risk Assessment. Maintain safe working distance >2m from any falling edge. During work, the site will be kept tidy to minimise Slip Trip and Fall hazards. When finished or at the end of a day’s shift, equipment will be tidied away and stowed safely.
Emergency Procedures:
Normal site evacuation procedure to apply as directed by site owner.
Contact with emergency services will be by calling 112 from a mobile or 999 from a fixed land line.
In The Event Of A Serious Accident or Dangerous Occurrence contact emergency services immediately. Assistance at the incident should only be made without putting yourself or anyone else in additional risk. Do not leave the location without the permission of the emergency service in control. Detail the accident/incident for company investigation and follow up. Photographs can only be taken with the emergency service’s permission if they are called. Write down what happened as soon as possible as this will be the “witness” statements and take photographs of the area.
Welfare Arrangements: Due to the transient nature of the work employees will utilise the site providers facilities once permission has been granted or they will identify the nearest McDonalds, Tesco’s or other nearby facility, in some remote locations it may be necessary to provide onsite facilities this will have been identified at the ESAS stage.

A) All KTL engineers are First Aid trained all KTL vehicles carry first aid kits. All engineers carry mobile communication no lone working is allowed without prior permission.

Operatives/Competence: All KTL personnel working on the rooftop including delivery personnel will have as a minimum, Rooftop Safety, RF Hazard, First Aid and Manual Handling training and Asbestos Awareness if rigging work will be undertaken then engineers will have undertaken: First Aid @ Height, Tower Rescue and Climber training. All records must be on site or loaded onto Teamspace under the Health & Safety folder (Qualifications folder)
Personal Protective Equipment:
Hard Hats, High Visibility Sleeved Vests, Laced Safety Footwear MUST be warn at all times
Full body harness, double fall arrest lanyards and pole belt (work positioning) MUST be warn and used at all times while WAH. Foul/Wet weather clothing as required. Gloves, Eye Protection and Face Masks if required by work activity

THIS ACTIVITY WILL ALWAYS BE YES / Prestart Health & Safety Requirements
1.  Lead engineer to access site and liaise with site contact and conduct a site walk around identifying any hazards that are not covered in the ESAS, control measures must be available on site prior to any work starting.
2.  Any work permits required to gain access to the rooftop/building at both end locations will have been applied for in advance.
3.  Lead engineer to conduct a pre-start induction to all personnel on site, this should include, TM, Crane, Cherrypicker and Delivery companies. This induction should highlight the following
·  Site specific hazards identified and control measures that will be required
·  First aid arrangements.
·  Welfare Arrangements
·  Lead engineer to ensure everyone is aware that the roof access door is to be kept closed / locked at all times
·  Emergency procedures and evacuation points
·  A brief description of work activities, I.e. Deliveries, working at height etc.
Once the Lead engineer is happy that the personnel on site understand the site Health and Safety requirements he is to get them to sign the site specific risk and hazard sheet, before work commences.

·  If operatives are to use either a sack barrow or stairwalker then the loads must be secured to prevent it falling. (Equipment must be suitable for the size of the loads to be moved and certified if required)

1.  The Rigging supervisor shall contact the relevant site contact and inform them which areas we will be working in, and gain a ref No from the Client NOC / SMC
2.  The method to get the equipment Rooftop must be agreed. This could mean a full rope rigging system may be required.
3.  The supervising engineer shall obtain permission to start work on site from the site contact.
4.  The supervising engineer shall assess the work requirements in relation to the risk assessment.
5.  In order to minimise the risk of falls NO engineer will work where there is a risk of falling from the Rooftop. Additionally, fall arresting, work restraint or work positioning equipment will be used where there are risks of falling and there is no other fall protection available NO FREE CLIMBING ALLOWED!
6.  When working on the Rooftop ensures that the correct drop zones are marked and that All tools and equipment are tethered only approved and inspected tethers to be used on site at all times.
7.  The supervising engineer shall ensure the correct signage and barriers are used where necessary and no unauthorised people access the work area / rooftop
8.  All tools and equipment are to be checked visually for defects prior to being used.
9.  All engineers are trained in tower rescue and emergency first aid at height. The rescue kit will be placed on the rooftop before work commences. This must be in a sealed bag and all documentation relating to this kit should be available on site for inspection.
10.  Rigging should be carried out as set out in KTL Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’S)
