MONTHLY REPORT March 26th to April 30th, 2015

NEWS:

1.  Ofc. Vaillancourt finished his Law Package certification at the end of March. Unfortunately, he has given his notice to separate, effective May 10th, to take a higher paying position with the Antrim Police as a Detective Corporal. He has agreed to stay on Part Time, at least for the time being, to help cover some shifts, as he will be scheduled on a 4/10 work week in Antrim. We will be going “shorthanded” yet again.

2.  Chief Pushee took a week off at the end of April during his children’s Spring Break from HD Schools to visit family in North Carolina.

TRAINING:

1.  Officer Ethan Vaillancourt finished his Law Package program and has received his NH Police Certification(s).

2.  All Officers completed the remaining portions of the Annual Use-of-Force Classroom training mandated by NH-PSTC, including practical exercises in MEB Baton, Handcuffing Refresher, and unarmed Defensive Tactics.

3.  Officer Chris Parsons completed his annual Breath Test Operator Recertification online.

4.  Chief James Pushee was certified at NH-PSTC as an Instructor for Work Zone & Flagger Duties, as required by Federal and State DOT standards for working traffic control details on state or federally funded projects.

GRANTS:

1.  Highway Safety Agency Grants:

a.  OPERATION SAFE COMMUTE 2014-2015: We continue working these patrols once a month.

b.  SPEED ENFORCEMENT: We have begun working these patrols, and Chief Pushee submitted quarterly reports and reimbursement requests

c.  DWI ENFORCEMENT: We have begun working these patrols, and Chief Pushee submitted quarterly reports and reimbursement requests

d.  TRAFFIC SIGN/SIGNALS: We have begun working these patrols, and Chief Pushee submitted quarterly reports and reimbursement requests

2.  NH Highway Safety Agency has notified us that they will be modifying the Application Process within the next few months AND that part of this re-organization will include the necessity to begin “FY2016” grant program applications in mid to late July 2015. I am asking permission to complete these applications as they become “open.”

3.  TIRE DEFLATION DEVICES: pursuant to authority provided during the March Department Head meeting, Chief Pushee did make an application for a grant to provide matching funds for 2 sets of “Tire Deflation Devices.” The NH Highway Safety Agency has sent a preliminary approval of this grant for signatures by the Town. Chief Pushee will be reviewing the various devices and vendors in the near future, and will submit purchase orders at that time. I am asking permission to execute the signatures on the Application form and return it to NH Highway Safety for final review.

JUVENILE ACTIVITY:

1.  We have no Juvenile Diversion Referrals or Court Actions in March 2015.

2.  We are in the process of filing Juvenile Petitions to charge a young female with Possession of Drugs.
