Website Technologies and Tools
For SBM SIG Chairs
Each SIG is given an individual page on the SBM website, which are listed under the “About” section. SIGs are encouraged to add content to their pages, and to work with SBM staff to include information, materials, and ideas that would be especially relevant to their interest groups on these pages.
All content is subject to review and approval by SBM’s Board of Directors. After content has been approved, it may be helpful to know which web tools and techniques are available on the SBM website, such that content can be disseminated effectively and in a unique and interactive manner.

Text: Practically any style, formatting and length of text can be added to the SIG webpage.
Hyperlinks: links to outside sources can be included in text
Pictures: pictures can be uploaded and included on SIG webpages
Attachments: PDF and DOC attachments can be “hosted” on the SIG webpage for download
Embedding: Depending upon the content and approval from the Board, certain buttons, graphics and tools can be embedded on SIG webpages.
Video: youtube videos can be used/embedded on SIG webpages
Social Media: Feeds/Streams, posts, blogs and tweets can all be embedded, included and/or linked to from SIG webpages
Subpages: child/subpages can be made and nested under the main SIG webpage
Polling/Survey Monkey: Surveys can be embedded onto a SIG webpage (SIG chair voting)
Members only: if certain content applies only to SBM members, it can be required that visitors are signed in to view that particular page
