Microsoft Outlook 2010settings to access your MIS emails

Follow these instructions to allow you to access your MIS emails through Microsoft Outlook 2010.

Open Microsoft Outlook 2010.
1.  Select the File tab in the menu bar, then Info.
2.  Select the Account Settings button.
3.  Then select Account Settings…
The Account Settings dialogue box will appear.
4.  Select the E-mail tab, then the New … button. /
The Add New Account dialogue box will appear.
5.  Select the E-mail Account option, then the Next button.
6.  On the Auto Account Setup screen, select Manually configure server settings or additional server types, then Next.
7.  Choose the first option, Internet E-mail, then Next >
8.  On the Internet E-mail Settings screen, enter the following information.
a.  User Information: Enter your name and MIS email address.
b.  Server Information
Account Type: Enter POP3.
Incoming mail server: Enter pop.eq.edu.au.
Outgoing mail server (SMTP):Enter smtp.eq.edu.au.
POP (Port 995) is the recommended option. It automatically removes old mail off the server, meaning your email quota won’t be exceeded.
c.  Logon Information: Enteryour MIS username and MIS password. Tick the box Remember password.
d.  Test Account Settings:Tick the box Test Account Setting by clicking the Next button.
e.  Deliver new messages to: Select New Outlook Data File.
Select the “More Settings” button.
9.  Update the “General” TAB to “EQ WebMail”
10.  In the “Outgoing Server” tab:
o  Tick “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication, and
o  “Use same settings as my incoming mail server”
Then select the ‘Advanced’ tab.
11.  Under the Advanced tab:
-  Tick ‘This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)’ for the Incoming Server
-  Change the Incoming Server port number to 995
-  From the dropdown box, choose an SSL connection for the Outgoing Server
-  Change the Outgoing Server port to 465
-  Under ‘Delivery’, ensure ‘Leave a copy of messages on the server’ is ticked, as well as ensuring ‘Remove from server after [ ] days’ is set to 7
Click OK
12.  Click test account settings
13.  Your account settings will be tested and a test email sent to your webmail account. Once this occurs, you will see a green tick next to the tasks Log onto income mail server (POP3) and Send test e-mail message.
Then, select the Close button.
14.  A congratulations screen will appear, indicating the setup is complete. Select the Finish button.
