MCRL-1 NOTES

(1) Reference Number, Logistics (DRN 3570) has a maximum length of 32 characters for all MCRL parts/products. In actuality, DRN 3570 can have more than 32 characters but the MCRL only uses the first 32 characters. If DRN 3570 contains more than 32 characters, then the 32nd position will be a dash (-). The first 31 positions will be filled with the actual values for DRN 3570. The dash in position 32 will notify the user that there are more than 32 positions for this Reference Number, Logistics. For the MCRL-1, DRN 3570 must be sorted using a specific criteria, see the Detailed Functional Requirements section - "Reference Number, Logistics Sorting Criteria - paragraph 1.b.

(2) A Reference Number, Logistic (DRN 3570) can only be assigned to one active NSN. The MCRL-1 will not only display the active NSN that DRN 3570 is assigned to, but will also display all the cancelled/replaced NSNs it is assigned to. The active NSN that DRN 3570 is assigned to will be the first NSN. Cancelled/replaced NSNs which are assigned to DRN 3570 will then follow the active NSN. An active NSN can be identified by having a NIIN Status Code (DRN 2670) equal to zero (0) or one (1).

(3) If a Reference Number, Logistics (DRN 3570) and CAGE Code (DRN 9250) combination contains more than 1 Service Agency Designator Code (SADC - DRN 4672) then a continuation record must be used. The continuation record is identical to the record layout displayed above.

(4) Print position 56 contains the Description Availability (DA) Code. The DA Code does not possess a DRN. This data is derived based on the value of the Type of Item Identification Code, DRN 4820. If the value of DRN 4820 equals "2", then the DA Code equals "N". If the value for DRN 4820 does not equal "2", then DA Code equals " " (blank).
