In addition, I have served on many search committees, the President's Council, and other important college committees.

Wood Recycling and Hardwood Floors.

For ten years, operated a family-owned business involved in residential and commercial demolition and salvage operations, manufacturing, and hardwood floor installation. Essentially, we took old wood and made new floor. In addition, we were the primary supplier of reclaimed lumber and faux antique siding for Landry's Seafood Restaurants and Joe's Crab Shack. At business' peak, we had more than thirty full-time employees and more than $3MM in annual sales. Sold assets of business in 2001.

Submarine Sailor Aboard USS Stonewall Jackson (SSBN 634).

Served in the United States Navy as a submarine sonar technician. Attended numerous technical training schools in addition to Basic Training and Submarine School. Trained in Great Lakes, Groton, and San Diego. Stationed in Charleston.

Teaching courses

Organizational Behavior - MANA 3318 - 2009

OB is the junior level course for business majors focusing on individuals within organizations. Students are introduced to major theoretical areas including personality, motivation, and culture. This class contains a major collaborative element. Students are required to complete group work both in and out of class. A portion of the student's grade is based on team output and includes an opportunity for peer evaluation. This class is taught in the face to face format.

Management Process Theory - MANA 3319 - 2009

This junior level course for management majors introduces the underlying processes in the field. Students explore the inputs, throughputs, outputs, and feedback mechanisms that exist in each of the discipline's major subfields. The focus in this course leads students to view management as an ongoing process within a systems view rather than a linear series of finite managerial actions. This class was taught in the face to face format.

Business Law I - BUSI 2301- 2002 to present

Business Law I introduces sophomore business and paralegal students to the business legal environment. Topics explored include the foundations of the American legal system, the American court system and alternative dispute resolution, business ethics, crimes and torts, intellectual property, common law of contracts, the Uniform Commercial Code, basic bankruptcy law, and business forms. Class has been taught in both face to face and online formats. This class has been my primary teaching focus at McLennan Community College. To date, I have taught more than thirty sections of this course.

Management Internship I, II, and III - BMGT 2488, 2479, and 2470 - 2004 to present

Management Internship courses are offered for management majors in an associate degree. The course requires students to engage in a longitudinal training plan at an approved work station for a minimum of twelve hours per week during an internship. In these projects, students learn how to plan, organize, lead, and/or control while contributing to an organization. This class is offered in sequence over three semesters. The requirements grow in complexity and product expectation. This class is taught in face to face and online formats. To date, I have taught more than twelve sections of this course and supervised more than one hundred fifty completed internship projects.

Principles of Management - BMGT 1327 - 2002 to present

This is the introductory survey course required of business majors enrolled in an associate degree program. This course provides an overview of the management discipline and includes units on strategy, organizational theory, organizational behavior, groups and teams, and human resources. Students completing this course will broadly understand the breadth of issues facing modern managers. This class is taught in the face to face format.

Survey of Business - BUSI 1301 - 2002 to present

This freshman level course is required of management, marketing, and accounting students pursuing associate degrees in business. This course is a survey of all major disciplines in the business field. This course provides an overview of the business environment and is designed to recruit majors while providing students with an integrated understanding of the relationships among the various business disciplines. This class has been offered in a face to face and hybrid format.

High Performance Work Teams - BMGT 1307 - 2005 to 2008

This course is required of management, commercial music, and multimedia majors enrolled in an associate degree program. This introductory course presents the basic principles of building and sustaining teams in organizations including team dynamics and process improvement. Students participate in in-class group activities, out of class team assignments, role-playing, and research projects. Students grades are, in part, dependent on group performance measures and peer evaluations. This class is taught in the face to face format.

Leadership - BMGT 2309 - 2005 to 2008

This capstone course is offered to management majors enrolled in an associate degree program. Learning outcomes include recognizing and utilizing leadership styles, distinguishing between leadership and management, and explaining the effects of leadership style on organizational environment and its members. Students improve their leadership and communication skills needed to inspire and influence others. This class is offered in the face to face format.

Human Resources Management - HRPO 2301 - 2007

Management majors in an associate degree program are offered this introductory course providing an overview of the human resources function. Students learn the staffing process, the strategic function of HR, and basic employment law. A focus on the changing nature of the American workforce is provided. This course is taught in the face to face format.
