Brief outline of expectations – listening/hands up. Starter – PPT slide of illnesses associated with the weather. Students attempt to diagnose the illnesses. Outline aims.
Use slide 2 – students to explain how weather would affect one person from the diagram.
Interpretation of graphs associated with social and economic implications of weather.
Watch the short animation on weather and climate. Students to note down the difference between weather and climate from the PPT.
Sort different weather events into those showing weather and those showing climate.
Use and interpret map symbols – pair activity.
Write an 18 hour weather forecast using the maps given.
Plenary – check understanding of ‘weather’ and ‘climate’. Then do the symbol rotation PPT. If time, review aims. / Teacher activity
Start PPT and set starter.
Explain the difference and give instructions.
Distribute extension activity.
