Please follow the instructions of the PPCY personnel to the appropriate stack area. After the container has been removed, the driver may either:
1)Re-use the chassis for his next move.
2)Take the chassis through the PMT main gate and interchange the chassis in. The chassis should then be dropped at the PMT chassis stacker unless it will be used for a pickup at the PMT Transfer Zone.
Pickup of Empty Containers from PPCY
Empty containers will not be dispatched from the PPCY until all like size/height/type are depleted from PMT wheels or the PMT stack (as directed by VIT). The VIT picking system will select the most accessible container matching the size/height/type for dispatch. Containers in the PPCY that are graded by the shipline will be dispatched if there are no similar graded wheeled containers at PMT. Containers will be loaded to the trucker’s wheels at time of pickup.
PLEASE NOTE: Pickup of Empty Containers from PCY
Empty containers will continue to be dispatched from the existing PCY on Constitution Ave. until all like size/height/type that can fulfill a valid shipline booking are depleted from this facility. Please refer to the Empty Pickup Page on the VIT website for equipment availability at the PCY.
The terminal code for the existing PCY will be designated as “XY” in the VIT system until this facility closes.
Damaged Containers
All containers arriving at the PPCY and found to be damaged will be rejected. The damaged container must be interchanged into PMT and will be parked on wheels. If the trucker is using carrier wheels they will be directed to the PMT transfer zone for a chassis change.
Replacement Containers
Should a trucker feel that the first container placed on the chassis does not meet the shipper’srequirements, that container will be removed and the next accessible container will placed on the chassis. Only one replacement container will be allowed.
Graded Containers
Graded containers will be available at the PPCY, at the direction of the shipline for bookings of tobacco, paper, food etc.
