CONGRATULATIONS TO: Danny, Emily, Ammie-Rose, Caitlin and Joey who all attended the Top Activity Festival at Malmesbury School today. Along with pupils from other local primary schools they enjoyed a variety of activities including lacrosse, games with the parachute, throwing bean bags into hoops and throwing and catching netballs whilst jumping over hurdles! They had lots of fun and really enjoyed themselves.

Thank you to Mrs Keir for kindly transporting them – your help is much appreciated.

Congratulations also go to Isabelle, Eve, Libby and Caitlin who all successfully achieved certificates for their Summer Reading Challenge called ‘The Big Friendly Read’. They each read at least 6 books during the school holidays – well done to each of you.

DT AT SHELDON SCHOOL

On Tuesday afternoon, our Year 5 and 6 children visited Sheldon School to take part in a DT workshop. They each designed and created their own wooden cars, choosing colours and accessories to personalise them. The cars all had moving parts and the children were able to use sanders, drills and saws to build their designs. Well done Year 5 and 6 – you all seemed to enjoy the experience.

QUICK WRITE

Our topic for next week’s Quick Write will be ‘Friends’. The topic for the following week will be ‘The Island’. We hope you will be able to discuss ideas at home in preparation for the Quick Writes.

PARENTS’ EVENING

Thank you to everyone who has returned their reply slips. Appointment times are in book bags today. If you haven’t yet requested a time, but would still like to meet with your child’s teacher, please let the school office know. Thank you.

ADVANCE NOTICE – CHRISTMAS CARDS

Whilst it only just October, we wanted to let you know that your child will be making a pack of five personalised Christmas cards this year. They will be selling them at our Christmas Bazaar on 2nd December.

FIZZPOP SCIENCE

We all enjoyed an exciting assembly with Fizz Pop Science today and learnt how air does not like to be different – it likes to be the same! We experimented with air to see how it whooshed and swished around, always trying to be the same as the air around it. We saw HUGE smoke circles, used a balloon called Bob and a piece of science equipment from a cooker that went POP. We are now pleased to be able to offer a FIZZPOP Science after school club starting on 2nd November. If your child would like to be part of this club, please complete the registration form (in book bags today) and return to the school office by Monday 17th October. Fizz Pop Science have asked for one form per child please.

MACMILLAN TEA PARTY AFTERNOON

Our final figure for our Macmillan Tea Party is a fantastic £139.81. Thank you to everyone who supported this event.
