2015 Scholarship Application

The Junior Woman's Club of Sparta (JWCS) is a non-profit, civic organization for women committed to promoting volunteerism and serving our community. JWCS has been a part of Sparta since 1966, working to enhance the quality of life in our community by working year-round on service projects and fundraisers.

As part of the mission to encourage, promote and support education, the Junior Woman’s Club of Sparta is pleased to announce the granting of six awards each in the amount of $500 to women graduating high school in the spring of 2015. Applicants must be residents of Sparta or a resident of a neighboring town of Sparta, within Sussex County. Applicants from any county are eligible, if they are graduating from a high school in Sparta.

Interested applicants should know the awards will be primarily based on service to their community and school. Applications will be judged on the level of service to community and school, as well as the candidate's overall commitment and enthusiasm for volunteering. Written expression and academic achievement will also be considered.

Completed applications need to be printed, mailed and postmarked by May 1, 2015.

Incomplete application packages will be immediately disqualified from judging as will any applications postmarked after May 1, 2015.

Please submit the following:

1.  Completed application. Application includes two (2) tables that list community and school service and two (2) brief essay questions.

2.  One letter of recommendation from a high school counselor, teacher, administrator, work supervisor, or community service supervisor.

3.  A copy of your high school transcript.

Winners of the 2015 scholarship awards will be announced at Sparta Day, May 16th and will be informed by email that following week.
