FREE DAY JULY 21
HELP NEEDED: MEMBER OPEN HOUSE JULY 25
Hello all! We have another Member Open house event in a couple weeks. This event, like all the events previously, will focus on Space Odyssey since it's the 10th anniversary this year. Briefing with dinner is at 5 PM, doors open at 6, and the event runs till 9ish. Please let me know if you'd like to help out, thanks!
SOS EVALUATION NOTE
You'll see that there's an accompanying slide on the leftmost screen by the SOS that runs with the two playlists we're using for the SOS evaluation. The slide says something to the effect of "Give us your opinion and receive free planetarium tickets." That offer is only valid during the hours we're doing the evaluation--while there's an evaluation volunteer there to get feedback and hand out vouchers. Questions? Please let me know. Thanks!
SPACE SCREEN PROJECTOR FAILURE
There were 2 power failures on the morning of 7/12 before the Museum opened and it seems to have killed our Space Screen projector. We have a repair technician coming on July 16th to do a repair. Tech is pretty sure we don't have another projector that can work in that space, but they'll see if they can find something. Otherwise, it will be down until next Tuesday when we can get someone to look at it.

MER CART UPDATES Thanks to the suggestion of Space O volunteer Dave Briggs, and our most excellent Exhibits department, the MER cart has received new wheels on it that have brakes so it doesn't roll around on the floor by the MER model. Enjoy!
GRAVITY WELL NOTE
The Gravity Well demo has one bad wheel brake on it that will be repaired soon. Also we've noticed a problem where the stage area won't reset itself to "normal" after one stops the Gravity Well demo. Tech is working on the problem. Meantime, if you notice that the Galaxy Stage area isn't resetting itself to the default show right away, try loading another show then resetting the "space to normal" and see if that works.
SEASONS CART FIX
You might have noticed that after awhile that the lever which unlocks the Seasons cart table to the stowed position works loose over time. Exhibits is working on a fix.
SPECTROSCOPY SIGNAGE REDUX
Exhibits is working on replacing the one spectroscopy graphic that shows the varied spectra of various elements because the latest version of it doesn't show the spectra clearly enough. Until it's replaced, you can use the old one.
NEW ORBITS TABLE COMPUTER COMING
Greg Mancari, our Uniview guru, has built us a new computer that will run Uniview 1.5. Some improvements include a "real" Sun image that you can fly to, and more.
PUBLIC WIFI COMING TO DMNS
Tech has been working on this for awhile now and they are getting closer to making this a reality. Stay tuned.
UNIFORMS: STATUS QUO
The latest, most amazing custom uniform prototype is being built as I type. We've also got cost estimates from LL Bean (fleece vests) as a back up. Once we know the unit price for the custom uniform, we'll know whether we can afford it or not. :)
NEW LAPTOPS UPDATE
The computers are in the building and sounds like we've got some headway on setting them up. Hope to have them in the exhibit by sometime in August.

Over the past year, Curiosity has been busy investigating climate and geology on Mars. Experts will discuss updates and discoveries related to geochemistry, weather, and atmospheric conditions, including results from the Radiation Assessment Detector (RAD), the first MSL instrument to return data.
