God’s Blessings on Tanner

Tanner Yingling, a member of our parish, and just 3 years old, has been diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and serious form of childhood cancer and has been undergoing treatments at John Hopkins. And so we are learning to pronounce a word that we never wanted to face, much less attribute to a cute, active 3 year old.

All of us at MJSP parish are behind Tanner and his family every step of the way. Our hearts go out to them and we are praying that Tanner grows up well and strong. God’s love for Tanner is so enormous it is beyond our comprehension and God will bring good out of this situation. We will continue to support Tanner and his family with healing prayer and we plan a service of healing prayer at St. Paul’s in May.

At such a stressful time, financial woes should not burden Tanner’s family. But, there are major financial challenges. Tanner’s mom, Steph, will resign from her job to care for him during this year of treatments. Also, the family’s medical insurance has a very high deductible. Jeff and Steph and the rest of Tanner’s family need to be able to devote themselves to caring for and nurturing this delightful 3-year-old. So, a special bank account, Friends of the Tanner Yingling Family, has been created.

The first fundraiser is a spaghetti dinner May 23 at the Harney Fire Hall. All donations for the dinner are welcome, both monetary contributions and food items. Cakes are needed and would be a good contribution for us at MJSP. Everything will be donated (donors’ names to be posted at the dinner), so all proceeds will benefit Tanner. The dinner is co-chaired by Drew Leedy and Matthew Shealer. The ask for your support in this community fundraiser. For tickets, please see Kristy & Kevin Servant, Guy & Sandy Kump, or Shirley Waybright.
