GHJA Divisions (August 9 & 10)

Fox GHJA Classics I & II are Local Member Shows of the GHJA, and are operated in accordance with the current rules of the GHJA. Every show participant is responsible for a knowledge of & subject to GHJA rules. The following divisions are recognized by GHJA & points won will count toward end of the year high point awards:

Short Stirrup Hunter 2’: Riders 12 & under, on horses or ponies, in 1st or 2nd year of showing over fences higher than 18” in any hunter show. Participation in once around/twice around & crossrails does not count as long as jumps do not exceed 18”. May cross-enter only Schooling Pony or Jr./Sr. Hunter & age group eq & non-recognized classes if fences do not exceed 2’6”.

Long Stirrup Hunter 2’3”: Amateur riders, 13 & older on horses or ponies. Cannot have shown over fences higher than 2’6” in past 5 years. May compete in this division no more than 2 years; may cross-enter classes where fences do not exceed 2’6”, not to include GHJA eq or any medal type class.

Small Pony 2’: Ponies not to exceed 12.2 hands high. Medium Pony 2’3”: Ponies not to exceed 13.2 hands high.

Large Pony 2’9”: Ponies over 13.2 not to exceed 14.2 hands high.

Schooling Pony 2’ or 2’6”: May jump either height; Open to juniors.

Pony Distances will be measured based on a 12 foot stride.

Junior/Senior Hunter 2’6”: Open to Jr. or Sr.’s on horses or ponies. Horse/rider combo cannot have shown over fences 3’3” or higher at any Local or Regular member show.

Open Hunter 2’6” or 3’: Riders may show at either fence height.

Adult Hunter 3’: Open to horses ridden by an Adult Amateur. Children’s Hunter 3’: Open to horses ridden by Jr. rider.

Age Group Equitation: Equitation 11 & under 2’; Equitation 12-14 @ 2’6”; Equitation 15-17 & Adults @ 3’; Short Stirrup @ 2’; Long Stirrup @ 2’3”

Green Working Hunter 3’ or 3’3”: Open to horses in 1st or 2nd year of showing; 1st year – 3’; 2nd year – 3’3”

Junior/Amateur Hunter 3’3”; Open to horses ridden by Junior or Amateur

Low Schooling Jumper 3’: Open to horses & ponies High Schooling Jumper 3’6”: Open to horses & ponies

Children’s/Adult Amateur Jumpers 3’3”: Open to juniors/adults on horses or ponies

J. D. Pounds Equitation Medal 3’: For juniors on horses (current GHJA members). Modified jumper type course (at least 8 fences) with at least 1 oxer & change of direction. Minimum of 6 riders if available called back for flat phase (25%). Judge may ask for USEF Tests 1-19. 3 entries must complete both phases for points to count.

GHJA Pony Equitation 2’/2’3”/2’9”: Open to juniors on ponies who are current GHJA members. (Same specs as

J. D. Pounds Medal.) GHJA Adult Amateur Equitation 3’: Open to amateurs, 18 & over on horses, who are current GHJA members. (Same specs as J. D. Pounds Medal.)

GHJA Jr. Equitation Challenge: Open to GHJA Jr. & Adult Amt. riders on horses or ponies. Judged at walk, trot & canter. USEF test 9 (ride without stirrups) & 17 (counter canter) required - all riders. Martingales not permitted. No outside assistance or coaching. Winners of final Jr. EQ Challenge in 2006 & 2007 not eligible. Top 20 riders with most year-end points will qualify for Final Phase of Challenge at GHJA Finals Horse Show.

Competition Year Begins December 1st and Ends November 30.

Unrated Divisions/Classes:

Beginner Walk/Trot: Open to Beginner Riders – All Walk/Trot riders receive ribbons.

Crossrail Hunter: Open to green horses/ponies &/or green riders; Horse/rider combination may only cross-enter Baby Green 2’ O/F, or Walk/Trot if eligible. May also enter eligible flat classes in other rings.

Baby Green Hunter 21”: Open to green horses/ponies &/or green riders. May only cross-enter Crossrail O/F divisions, Hopeful Hunter 2’3”, and any eligible flat classes in other rings.

Hopeful Hunters 2’3”: Open to all horses or ponies

Hunter Classics: 2 separate rounds numerically scored & added together. Special ribbons & silver tray for winners.

Gambler’s Choice: Jumps assigned numerical value. 90 seconds to accumulate highest score possible. Gambler’s Choice jump may be jumped twice. Others no limit. Complete specs will be posted on course board & in Show Office.

Progressive Jumpers 2’6 – 2’9”: Open to all horses or ponies

Open Warm-up: Each ring has an open warm-up that may be ridden any time before specified class no. at end of day. Ribbons presented at conclusion of class. Horse/rider may enter 2 warm-ups/day at height of their choice in each ring.

H. J. Fox $1,000 Mini-Prix:: 3’ – 3’3” (Level 2) Entry Fee $100; Prize Money: 1st - $350; 2nd - $200; 3rd - $ 150; 4th - $125; 5th - $100; 6th - $75 ; Minimum of 10 entries for $1,000 Prize. (Rider must enter at least 1 other jumper class in show.) Fewer than 10 entries will run as an Add-back, with a reduced Entry Fee of $50.

Addbacks: Classes with $10/entry added back for prize money. Payback 1st – 50%; 2nd – 25%; 3rd – 15%; 4th – 10%

HORSES & PONIES MAY SHOW IN NO MORE THAN 7 CLASSES OVER FENCES PER DAY,

INCLUDING EQ, CLASSICS, AND SPECIAL CLASSES.

Daily Champion & Reserve Awards in all Hunter & EQ Divisions.

Jumper High Points for SAT/SUN Combined.
