Full Time Executive Director, Montgomery, Alabama

SUMMARY:

The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring that Brantwood Children’s Home is in compliance with all applicable standards including governmental standards in the areas of administration, physical maintenance, program development, and resident welfare. The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to further develop the long- term goals and vision of Brantwood Children’s Home. The Executive Director will be responsible for the organization’s consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES:

Master’s degree in guidance and counseling, education, social work, business administration, or in a closely related field and five years of experience in family and children services. Additionally two years of management administration and/or supervisory experience is also required. Experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year for year basis.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·  Assure that the organization has a long-range strategy which achieves its mission, and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress.

·  Provide leadership in developing program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and staff, and carry out plans and policies authorized by the board.

·  Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

·  Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field.

·  Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations.

·  Represent the programs and point of view of the organization to agencies, organizations, and the general public.

·  Oversee all personnel employed by Brantwood in accordance with Board- approved personnel policies or other legal requirements.

·  Be responsible for the recruitment, employment, and release of all personnel, both paid staff and volunteers.

·  Ensure that job descriptions are developed, that regular performance evaluations are held by executive team, and that sound human resource practices are in place.

·  Ensure that an effective management team, with appropriate provision for succession, is in place.

·  Encourage staff and volunteer development and education, and assist program staff in relating their specialized work to the total program of the organization.

·  Maintains a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse staff of top quality employees.

·  Ultimately responsible for the quality of service and care that all residents living at Brantwood Children’s Home receive.

·  Oversee the development of grant proposals and contracts

·  Oversee the preparation of annual operating budgets for review and approval

·  Supervises the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements for all activities related to Brantwood.

·  Secures the Board of Directors approval for all unbudgeted expenditures over the approved dollar limit.

·  Signs all contracts in accordance with Board’s policies for resolutions, consistent with sound fiscal methods.

·  Manages all contracts including contracts with the federal and state governments.

·  Recommends to the Board new programs or activities. Responsible for the operation of all existing programs and activities. Develops policies and procedures and ensures that they are fair, consistent, and provide for the welfare of the residents.

·  Assess the total operation of the child care facility and its program to identify successes, barriers, strengths, and needs. Works with the staff and the Board to prepare long range foals and annual objectives for the Brantwood.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

·  Knowledge of the licensing standards for the operation of residential facilities; operating policies and personnel policies established by the Board of Directors; state and federal laws; budget preparation and administration; the contract process to include bid preparation, legal requirements, and funding restrictions; grant process to include types of grants, rules and regulations, sources of funding, guidelines, and writing techniques. Ability to solve problems to include identifying possible solutions, analyzing strengths and weaknesses of the situation, and the execution of possible solutions.
