Assignment - Create a Travel guide to a biome! Brochure

Pick any land or aquatic biome

  1. Introduction – Create a travel agency (ex. Mr. D’s Super Expensive Getaway Travel)
  2. Why should I travel to this biome? Brief description (Think of a travel guide and convince people to visit)
  3. Description of biome
  4. Local climate, temperature, and seasons
  5. Map of biome in the world – include latitude
  6. Precipitation – types and amounts
  7. Topography – land/soil and vegetation characteristics
  8. Natural Resources – supplies found in biome (ex. oil, lumber, gold)
  9. Organism diversity – describe plants and animals found in biome
  10. Famous location – a popular or well known biome location
  11. Bibliography and Sources section
  12. Provide at least two websites on your biome
  13. Provide a list of magazine articles or books used for your project

Brochure rubric (25 points)

  • 3 points - Typed or neatly written introduction
  • 14 points - Typed or neatly written description of biome including each bullet point
  • 2 points - Map showing locations of the biome
  • 4 points - Pictures, graphs, charts, and/or tables that relate to your biome brochure
  • 2 points - Sources section
  • Due the Monday, Oct 23, 2006
