LEMASTERS TO DISCUSS CREMATION
AT HOSPICE CONFERENCE

STERLING, VA (May 22, 2014)—The International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association’s (ICCFA) cremation programs coordinator Poul Lemasters, Esq., has been added to the program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s (NHPCO) 15th Clinical Team Conference and Pediatric Intensive Conference to be held October 27-29 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Lemasters’ session is designed to help caregivers acquire the knowledge they need to help better inform families choosing cremation, ultimately helping families heal and get through the process rather than setting them up for failure and adding to their grief. “Cremation Isn't ‘Quick, Simple and Easy’—Helping the Bereaved Understand a Difficult Process,” will take place on Tuesday, October 28th, from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m.

About 1,400 people attend the conference every year, including nurses, physicians, aides, social workers, spiritual care professionals, bereavement professionals, volunteer managers/leaders, interdisciplinary team managers, finance and development professionals, quality professionals and other related end-of-life caregivers.

“We are delighted that Poul will join our esteemed faculty in Nashville,” said Barbara Bouton, vice president, professional development, Mary J. Labyak Institute, NHPCO. “His presentation addresses a specific knowledge gap that hospice and palliative care professionals have identified, and we have every confidence that they will receive great benefit from his expertise.”

ICCFA Hospice Initiative Committee chairwoman Glenda Stansbury, The InSight Institute, is excited to see experts from the funeral profession speaking at national hospice events.

“Poul is a superb speaker and one of the best ambassadors our profession has to offer,” Stansbury said. “His presentation will go a long way in helping hospice caregivers learn about cremation, the many options that go along with it, and how funeral professionals can help everyone involved make informed decisions. Together, we and hospice providers can provide seamless, quality end-of-life care to patients and their families.”

Founded in 1887, the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association is the only international trade association representing all segments of the cemetery, cremation, funeral and memorialization industry. Its membership is composed of more than 8,900 cemeteries, funeral homes, crematories, memorial designers and related businesses worldwide.
