Assurant Employee Benefits partners with Harris Rosen to donate money and supplies to Tangelo Park students
Kansas City, MO. (February 24, 2011) – Students at Tangelo Park Elementary School received a break from studying yesterday afternoon when Harris Rosen, president and COO of Rosen Hotels and Resorts, and John Roberts, president and CEO of Assurant Employee Benefits, stopped by to distribute 375 fun packs and present the school with a $23,000 donation, raised the evening before at Assurant Employee Benefits’ annual sales meeting.
Roberts and the insurance representatives and local brokers attending the conference wanted to give back to the Orlando community, and Harris Rosen’s involvement with Tangelo Park made the school a natural fit. Rosen’s Tangelo Park Pilot Program provides free preschool for neighborhood children, full college scholarships for graduating seniors and a Family Resource Center with parenting resources. Reps and brokers spent Tuesday evening assembling the fun bags and writing notes of support and encouragement to Tangelo Park Elementary School teachers. Roberts also asked for donations to help reach the company’s goal of $10,000, which was more than doubled by the evening’s end.
“We were looking for an opportunity to leave a positive imprint in Orlando, and the Tangelo Park Pilot Program spoke to us. We support Harris Rosen’s mission of helping these children realize their potential through education,” said Roberts. “Taking time out to volunteer and give back to the community reflects who we are as a company, and we look forward to continuing this new tradition.”
