Extra Credit Opportunity 1st Quarter
Due by 2:35pm, September 30th, no exceptions.
Choose a historical based novel; it can be fiction or non-fiction. It can be a book you have read within the past six months, or one that you read specifically for this assignment. You must have your book choice approved by Mrs. Furlong before you begin your project. There are some prequalified books listed below that you may choose from, without prior approval.
After completing the book, choose ONE of the following assignments to complete:
1. Create an animated or stop-motion video. Stop Motion Animator and Helium Frog are both free resources for creating this project (100 possible points). You must include:
- (20 points) It must be 90 seconds to 3.5 minutes in duration.
- (30 points) Timeline of the book
- (30 points) Plot summary and major themes
- (20 points) Creativity, neatness, and grammatically correct
2. Create a comic book. This can be done using technology or without. For technology based comic books use ReadWriteThink Comic generator, Pixton, or Strip Generator. You must recreate a scene in the book or give a synopsis of the story as a whole (100 possible points). You must include:
- (30 points) A cover page, a minimum of 4 illustrated pages, with a minimum of 6 comic boxes on each page, and no more than 8 pages total. Must be stapled or bound.
- (30 points) Synopsis or scene recreation
- (20 points) Important characters and quotes
- (20 points) Creativity, neatness, colorful and grammatically correct
3. Create a character scrapbook. Using magazines, newspapers, internet resources, and your own illustrations put together a book of mementos that would be important to the main character of your book (100 possible points). It must include:
- (30 points) 6-8 pages detailing the events that the character goes through during the book.
- (30 points) A variety of mementos, including pictures, quotes, newspaper clippings; both 2D and 3D items are acceptable.
- (20 points) A cover page and binding (clear plastic binding or small three ring folder will work just fine).
- (20) Creativity, neatness, colorful, and grammatically correct
