2008-Present Independent Researcher, NIMH Project (Director – Dr. Heather N. Taussig),
The Kempe Center and the University of Colorado Denver, Denver, CO. I conduct research examining the risk and protective factors associated with child maltreatment and violence exposure in an effort to elucidate mechanisms associated with adolescent violence perpetration and psychopathology.

2006-2008 Research Coordinator, NIMH Project (Director – Dr. Heather N. Taussig),
The Kempe Center and the University of Colorado Denver, Denver, CO. My responsibilities included managing and analyzing data related to a federally-funded grant examining the efficacy of a preventive intervention for preadolescent youth in foster care.

2003-2006 Postdoctoral Research Associate, NIMH Project (Directors – Dr. Ernest N. Jouriles, Dr. Renee McDonald), Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX. My responsibilities included collecting, managing, and analyzing data related to a federally-funded, five-year grant studying family violence and its impact on the well-being of mothers and children.

2002-2003 Graduate Research Assistant, NIAAA Project (Directors – Dr. Ernest N. Jouriles, Dr. Renee McDonald), University of Houston, Houston, TX. My responsibilities included assisting in modifying and implementing an intervention aimed at addressing the issue of dating violence in adolescent relationships. I also conducted analyses with collected data for presentation at conferences and publication of papers.

1997-2003 Graduate Research Assistant, NIMH Project (Director – Dr. Linda K. Acitelli), University of Houston, Houston, TX. My responsibilities included assisting in the entering and coding of data, conducting data analyses to be presented at professional conferences, and assisted in the preparation and design of a proposal for a four-year, NIMH grant.

1995-1996 Volunteer Research Assistant, Cancer Intervention Project (Director – Dr. Lynn Dalquist), University of Houston-Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. My responsibilities included videotaping cancer patients and assisting in the entering and coding of data.

2008-2012 R01 MH076919-02S1, Research Supplement to Promote Diversity in Health Related Research – Supplement to the Fostering Healthy Futures Efficacy Trial for Preadolescent Youth in Foster Care

National Institute of Mental Health, (H. Taussig, PI)

Grant Objective: This is a 5-year efficacy trial of the Fostering Healthy Futures Program, a preventive intervention designed to promote prosocial development, and to reduce the problem behaviors for youth in foster care. The objective of the supplement is to examine the risk factors associated with child maltreatment that increase the risk for adolescent violence and psychopathology.
