Introduction: Edmodo is a networking site (like Facebook) where students and teachers can collaborate and share resources. Some ways that we will use Edmodo this year include: quizzes, turning in assignments, accessing web resources, discussions, and collaborating in small groups.

The goal of this activity is for you to create an Edmodo account, link to our class, and learn the basics of how to use this tool.

1. Go to edmodo.com

2. Click I’m a student

3. Fill in the Student Sign Up

4. Scroll down the posts to find Practice Quiz. Take the quiz. Submit the quiz.

5. Click on the home icon in the left hand upper corner of your screen.

6. Find Practice Assignment in the posts and Turn In. Attach a file to your assignment. To do this you may need to save the file from the web temporarily to your desktop. You can also grab a file out of your student folder on the network.

7. Click the home icon again.

8. Find the desserts poll within the posts and cast your vote.

9. Post a note to the group wall and hit send. In that note, tell us one thing so far about high school that you <3.

10. Use the reply, tag, and conversation functions (bottom of each post) to respond to what your peers are saying.

11. Click Folders. Open the folder 9th English Resources. Open the folder, find the syllabus, preview it and find the blurb that begins: “Literature, by its essential nature, allows us to explore places, cultures, values, beliefs,...”
