I would also like to Congratulate Dr. Tercius and the Heart Failure Team for a job well done. Adena was recently mentioned in the US News and World Report as a high performing Institution for Heart Failure. Look for more information coming out in the Adena Monitor.
Recruitment
On behalf of Dr. Wayne Coats, CMO we are pleased to announce that Gianina Usera MD (pronounced “U Sara”) has signed an employment contract for Endocrinology. Endo has been a difficult specialty to recruit for so we celebrate this recruit! Dr. Usera will join Adena in July of 2017. Her husband has been accepted at Ohio State for a Plastics Fellowship in 2017. Their family really enjoyed their visit with Adena and Dr. Usera looks forward to joining Adena’s Medical Staff. She completed her Medical Education at University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and completed her Endocrinology Fellowship, at LIJ School of Medicine, NY in 2016 in which she was the Chief Fellow. Dr. Usera is currently employed as an Endocrinologist at North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Hospital, Hofstra University in NY.
Population Health
A common question that Adena Care receives from the offices is “What routine labs and tests are covered under the Adena Employee Health Plan’s Wellness Benefit?”, and while this might sound like a simple question to answer, it rarely is.
Adena’s employee health plan covers labs and services that have an A or B rating from the United States Preventative Services Task Force under the Wellness Benefit, as long as the patient doesn’t have an illness related to the lab service. A link to the current list is below.

Any lab that has a medical diagnosis attached to it cannot be paid under the patient’s Wellness benefit, even if it is ordered when a patient is being seen for their annual Well visit.
If your office has any questions about what is covered under our employee health plan Wellness benefit, please call Adena Care at extension
2-CARE (22273)and we’ll be happy to answer your questions.

Reminder - Provider Portal
Please remember to check out the Provider Portal at www.adena.org/physicianportal and stay up-to-date on the latest information and events happening within Adena. The portal is also a way we hope to further communication between providers. We intend to continue to enhance the portal as we strive to improve communication to and with each other.
