–“What do you call a comedian with perfect comedy timing?” The Public Reviews *****

“Not only a very funny accomplished comedian, but one of the finest raconteurs around” Time Out

Brace yourself for a hearty comic brawling from the hands of one of the UK’s finest comedy talents! Dave Spikey!

Having successfully completed the autumn 2014 leg of his brand new Punchlines tour, comedian Dave Spikey will be returning to the live arena in spring 2015 for a further series of side-splitting Punchlines performances! The Punchlines dates will follow hot on the heels of Dave’s Phoenix Nights Comic Relief appearances at the Manchester Arena, which will see Dave reprise his much loved character, cabaret performer Jerry “The St” Sinclair.

Delivering punchlines with the quick one-two of a comedy champion, the multi award-winning Dave Spikey is one of the most sought-after comic talents in the UK today. With a career spanning more than two decades, he has numerous TV appearances under his belt as a stand-up comedian, presenter and actor – and behind the screens as an acclaimed comedy writer.

“Down to Earth comic genius” – City Life

Punchlines derive their humour from being unexpected (“punch” indicating that the “line” should always come as a shock or surprise). So, can a joke or funny story still make you laugh like a drain when you have been given the punchline beforehand? Dave believes so and in his new Punchlines show he will present strong evidence to support this and in so doing, he will land blow after blow that hit square on the funny bone, turning the most mundane of life’s events into comedy gold and ensuring audiences everywhere have their ribs not just tickled but thoroughly pummelled.

Spikey's gags are the stuff of stand-up dreams, his interplay and analysis the basis for clever, laugh-after-every-line comedy. - Leicester Mercury

Floating like a jovial butterfly and stinging like a bee with killer one-liners, Dave dissects the classics, from nuns in baths to Prince Charles’s fur hat to that Lion walking in a pub faster than you can say “Nice tits love, where do you want your blinds?”; all delivered with the quick one-two of a comedy champion. Add to this his irresistible mix of observational humour, laugh-out-loud comedy and heart-warming stories and your ribs will not just be tickled but thoroughly pummelled!

Dave Spikey began his comedy journey almost 25 years ago, pounding the comedy club circuit and supporting the likes of Jack Dee, Max Boyce, Cannon & Ball and Eddie Izzard - all in the space of one week! In 1996, TV comedy history was made when Dave met fellow Boltonian Peter Kay. They went on to form a formidable partnership, collaborating on numerous projects, including the hit Channel 4 series That Peter Kay Thing, which won a British Comedy Award for ‘Best New TV Comedy’ in 2000. Dave then went on to co-write and co-star in the massive, critically acclaimed Phoenix Nights in which he won the nation’s hearts as the legendary cabaret star Jerry St Clair.

Dave soon received his second British Comedy Award with Phoenix Nights, scooping the 'People’s Choice Award'. In 2003 Dave went on to star in his debut solo tour - Overnight Sensation which delivered a hit DVD of the show and got Dave a gold disc. In 2004 Dave performed at The Royal Variety Performance in a star studded line-up that included Shirley Bassey and was a guest on the legendary Parkinson show alongside Paul McCartney – fulfilling two lifelong ambitions in one week.

After starring in and writing comedy drama Magnolia for BBC 1 and Dead Man Weds for ITV1, this former Chief Medical Bio Medical Scientist became a regular on our screens as Team Captain alongside Jimmy Carr and Sean Lock on Channel 4’s hugely popular panel show 8 Out of 10 Cats. He was also selected as presenter for the Challenge TV revival of legendary quiz show Bullseye.

Between 2008/9 Dave toured his immensely successful show The Best Medicine in more than 100 venues nationwide, released a DVD of the tour and had his first book published – “He Took My Kidney, Then Broke My Heart” which took a look at ambiguous newspaper headlines which often leave themselves open to misinterpretation. Dave continued touring from 2011 - 2013 with Words Don’t Come Easy and also found time to publish his best-selling autobiography “My Life – Under the Microscope”. Between 2010 until 2012 Dave was also a co presenter on the TV Book Club for More4/Ch4.

DAVE SPIKEY – PUNCHLINES is set to be another spectacular sell-out and is guaranteed to pack a serious comedy wallop for the foreseeable future.

I wish I hadn’t worn mascara’, my companion remarked as she wiped away the tears as Dave Spikey left the stage. Immediately likeable and with spot-on observations, there was certainly one word that came easy for the audience – ENCORE!” - Manchester Evening News
