Area Administrator Person Specification

Legal requirement - The post holder will require an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Disbarring Service) check

Purpose of the role -To support the work of Suffolk Cruse within the Area, to help provide support for clients and others wishing to access our service and to ensure accurate and detailed information entered onto CIS (Cruse Information System).

Responsible to - the Area Coordinator

Qualifications - Experience with using computers is essential. It would be desirable that the post holder has completed the Awareness in Bereavement Care training course and Responding to Initial Enquiries. Training for either one of these will be required to be undertaken. It is essential that the post holder has experience of communicating both verbally and in writing with either the bereaved or working in similar situations.

Knowledge and Experience:-

It would be desirable for the post holder to have:- experience of working as part of a team and at different levels within an organisation. The ability to work under pressure and to stay calm in stressful situations. An understanding and commitment to Equal Opportunities and understanding of discrimination within society.

Skills – Good interpersonal and listening skills. Good organisational and time management skills. Ability to prioritise and cope under pressure. Ability to work with clients who are stressed or distressed. Good record keeping skills both written and on computer data bases.

Personal qualities – the post holder should be empathic, have integrity, warmth, resilience and respect. Also to be supportive, self aware, non judgemental and be calm under pressure.

The post holder will need to have a willingness and commitment to work for Cruse. A willingness to consider their own loss experience and how this may affect their work with bereaved people. Ability to take responsibility for their work. Awareness of personal strengths and weaknesses. A wish to develop further skills and knowledge.

Support – the post holder receive supervision for client work as per Cruse Standards
