1.3 REFERENCE STANDARDS [For Bullet Resistant Models]

1.4 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

A. CRL Two-Way Digital Electronic Communicators contain the latest advancements in electronic sound transmission devices. Clear, distortion free two-way conversations can take place through secure barriers as the unit senses sound levels and automatically increases volume when speech on interior side (clerk's side) begins. Easy-to-operate multi-function controls on the clerk's side turn the Communicator on and off, set to mute, and adjust the volume. Frequency response is 200Hz exterior, 250Hz interior to 20kHz. Talk mode is half-duplex. Power requirements are 9V DC, 1.2A nominal. Input 100-240V AC; 50/60 Hz, 0.35A. Glazing thickness range for the Thru-Glass Models are 1/4 to 2-1/2 inches (6 to 64 mm).

1.5 SUBMITTALS

A. Submit under provisions of Section 01 3300.

B. Product Data: Submit Manufacturer’s technical product data for CRL Two-Way Digital Electronic Communicators.

C. Shop Drawings: Dimensioned drawings of CRL Two-Way Digital Electronic Communicators indicating the following:

1. Elevations.

2. Manufacturer’s installation and maintenance instructions.

1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Manufacturer shall be a company that specializes in manufacturing products of the specified type with a minimum of five years experience. Installer shall be a company that specializes in product type specified.

B. All components and fittings are furnished by the same manufacturer.

1.7 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A. Deliver materials properly protected against damage during transit.

B. Inspect materials upon delivery for damage. Unless minor defects can be made to meet the Architect’s specifications and satisfaction, damaged parts should be removed and replaced.

C. Store materials at a secure building site under cover in dry location.

PART 3 – EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Prior to installing CRL Two-Way Digital Electronic Communicators , the contractor shall verify that all required preparations are completed per the contract documents,

architectural drawings, and approved shop/CAD drawings, if required. Installer shall

notify the architect of any unsatisfactory preparation that is the responsibility of another trade.

3.2 INSTALLATION, GENERAL

A. Clean and prepare all surfaces per manufacturers recommendations.

B. Do not begin installation until openings have been verified and surfaces properly

prepared in accordance with drawings. Install in accordance with manufacturer’s

instructions.

C. Fasteners and gaskets for mounting are supplied with the unit. The gaskets prevent slippage and protect the barrier’s surface. All systems are shipped complete with mounting hardware, instructions, and power supply.

3.3 CLEANING

A. Clean surfaces after installation, complying with requirements contained in the manufacturer’s instructions. Remove excess glazing sealant compounds, decals, dirt or other substances.

B. Remove protective films from plastic and metal surfaces.

3.4 PROTECTION

A. Institute protective measures required throughout the remainder of the construction period to ensure that all the materials do not incur any damage or deterioration.

B. Repair components damaged by subsequent construction activities in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations; replace damaged components that cannot be repaired to Architect’s acceptance.
