This assignment is part of the technical reading done with the postsecondary unit in Reading and Study Skills. Each student will be given a classified ads section from a newspaper. All work will be done outside of class. The directions are as follows.

From your newspaper,

Ø  Choose two full columns of general help wanted ads.

Ø  Read the ads and cut out each individual ad that fits into one of the categories below.

Ø  Separate ads into columns under these headings:

1.  no high school diploma necessary

2.  high school diploma necessary

3.  high school diploma and experience

4.  high school diploma and employer will train

5.  high school diploma and specialized training necessary

6.  two or four year college degree

**You need at least 5 ads under each heading for a total of 10 ads.

If your two full columns did not produce the ads needed to complete the assignment, look in the other columns. You will find that the ads are separated by Help Wanted, Sales Help Wanted, Medical Help Wanted, and Professional Help Wanted. Also, some ads are printed in boxes separate from the columns in the paper. These are appropriate to use.
